  • 189 Drops of Joy
Many times we go about our days with our head down, focused on our task at hand or buried in the depths of our own brokenness that we can’t even see past ourselves to others. But what if we were able to change the world by leaving drops of joy behind us? There is a caveat, though: You can’t give what you don’t have.Today Tricia shares how she went from being shut down in her grief and old wounds to being free to change other people’s lives just by sharing joy. Resources Mentioned:·       The podcast Road Map has grouped like topics together. • 188 Practice, practice, practice
What are your “default” thoughts? What are your “default” actions? Are you pleased with either of these? Do you wish you would think more positively and act more Christlike? Would you like that to be your “default”? Change is possible but it’s going to take practice, practice, practice. That’s because deep neural ruts and connections have been formed in our brains by our past “default.” Today we discuss how to make those changes we so desperately need and want by working with the brain’s natural God-given design. The brain is designed to eliminate unnecessary connections and strengthen important ones. This means we have the ability to let go of negative thoughts, painful memories, and lie-based beliefs—while reinforcing faith, peace, and truth.I’ll give you three areas to focus on to begin to make that change: pruning, feeding and fasting, and sleep.Resources Mentioned:·       For more tools, questions for reflection, and resources to help you on your journey, download the Listener's Guide for this episode: Scriptures Mentioned:·       Colossians 3:2, Romans 8:11, Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 10:5, John 15:2Are you wondering how Life Coaching works? • 187 Using Metacognition to Retrain the Brain
Metacognition is what sets human brains apart from all other created beings’. It’s the ability to think about what we’re thinking about. Meta. When was the last time you remember actively aware and thinking about what you were thinking in the moment when your emotional brain was spinning out of control? When we’re thinking about what we’re thinking about, we’re able to make adaptive changes that make our lives enriched and feel more abundant and purposeful. Today we talk about actively engaging in this beautiful God-given gift – metacognition. Resources Mentioned:·       For more tools, questions for reflection, and resources to help you on your journey, download the Listener's Guide for this episode: Scriptures Mentioned:·       Proverbs 16:18, John 10:10, 1 Corinthians 11:28, 2 Corinthians 13:5, Galatian 6:4, Hebrews 12:1, Psalm 42:11Are you wondering how Life Coaching works? • 185 Rest, My Beloved
God is calling us into a place of continual, satisfying, unhurried rest in Him. To slow down. To make quiet and purposeful space. But this is counter cultural and flies in the face of everything we believe makes us valuable and worthwhile. The result is busy, frantic, unsettled lives, striving for something more. That “more” is found when we heed God’s call to “Rest, My Beloved.”Resources Mentioned:·       Another Beautiful Life: A Christian’s Journey to Finding Peace and Healing in Brokenness by Tricia Zody https://a.co/d/hoPKsBO on Amazon·       Soul Keeping by John Ortberg·       The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer·       For more tools, questions for reflection, and resources to help you on your journey, download the Listener's Guide for this episode: https://www.triciazody.com/guideScriptures Mentioned:·       Romans 12:2Are you wondering how Life Coaching works?
