LET ME TEAR OFF YOUR STAR - A Holocaust Story Of French Resistance -- film by Jeffery B. Giesener The moving story of the Kochavi family during the Holocaust. First, Judith and Israel Kochavie departed from Lithuania for Palestine in the mid-1910s. From there, they moved to Kolmar, France, before the Second World War. Dr. Daniel Kochavi was born in Kolmar, France, in 1938 and survived the war in hiding.The Nazis invaded France, where Daniel's mother, Judith, shortly after, entered the French Resistance. She hid Jewish families in her apartment while also acting as a courier for the Resistance. To protect Daniel, only about age 3, she hid Daniel in a Catholic girls ' boarding school as the administrator's son. Since Daniel's father and mother were living under British passports from their stay in the British Mandate, Palestine, his father was rounded up and detained in a Nazi detention center outside of Paris.
