  • Witches, Tartan & Truth with The Witches of Scotland, Claire Mitchell & Zoe Venditozzi
Welcome to our new series of Spill The Tea with Womenkind Collective! This week is our Book Club special and our book for series 13 is a huge part of feminine history, How To Kill A Witch. A Guide For The Patriarchy, by Claire Mitchell & Zoe Venditozzi. The book is a powerful, poignant and razor sharp read, that has already sparked important questions around the witch trials and the murder of countless (mostly) women. Claire and Zoe discuss why this book needed to be written and together these two amazing women are restoring forgotten voices and fighting for justice that is centuries overdue. There is a growing interest and solidarity around the history of the witch trials, not just as something from the past, but as a symbol of sisterhood, resistance, and the ongoing fight against systems that still try to silence and control women. And this book doesn’t just tell the story—it demands that we listen. In the first part of this interview (we had to do 2 parts because there is just so much to talk about with these fantastic women!) we talk about the Witches of Scotland tartan, a beautiful symbol of defiance woven into a traditional Scottish tartan, how these two met and what drove them to write this book. Part two will be available later in the series. If you want to read along, we will be reading from the introduction up to chapter 3. There’s some weekly inspiration to give you some good news stories that you might have missed, and there’s a beautiful quote to send you off for the week with. It’s an episode brimming with chat and all the usual sweary shenanigans! So, go and get the kettle on and settle in for our weekly collective chat while we spill the tea!
