More than 10,000 U.S. Sailors, Marines, and Airmen have been deployed, supported by over a dozen warships and dozens of aircraft, effectively sealing off the Gulf of Oman. Official reports from Centcom state that within the first 24 hours of the operation, no ships were able to get past the U.S. blockade. At least six merchant vessels complied with directives from U.S. forces and were forced to turn around and re-enter their Iranian ports.
