Muslim Women Talk Ramadan is back for series 2, and this time we are talking power, women's power.

We're into the 'laylatul qadr' nights of Ramadan, the nights of power, and the perfect backdrop for our conversation on women's power.
How and why should women show up in the public space? Our Ramadan BFF Henrietta Szovati explains the relationship between the spiritual self and the social self, highlighting that we need to be in public to find our qualities being 'chiselled' in interactions with others, including simply showing up and being present for others. We also explore what does 'leadership' mean and how this can take shape for women.Ā And as we think about the end of Ramadan and Eid, she explains how to create a mood board of the kind of power we want to develop by next week.
Our special guest this week is Dr Sohaira Siddiqui, the Executive Director of Al Mujadilah, a pioneering centre in Doha, Qatar designed specifically forĀ Muslim women to study, engage in dialogue and worship together. She lays out a vision of Muslim women's power that is rooted in 'stewardship' and has a role for all women, which they can find in their own way and in their context. She draws on her deep study and expertise in understanding Muslim women and Muslim societies.Ā
And some real gems from girls Hana and Iman that live in a very different generation - where tech and social media shape their lives in different ways. They talk about the relationship between how people look and their power, the power dynamics that exist within friend groups, and what they feel about leadership. Plus they tell an excellent joke about Hijab & Shoulders, not to be missed!
Family friendly listening with a huge helping of Ramadan power.

S2 Ep4: 2025: Week 3 (Asma Khan)
A 'warrior princess' is how this week's special guest Asma Khan - celebrity chef, author and restaurateur - has seen herself and from a young age this has shaped her life and incredible success. Hot off the heels of the King and Queen visiting her restaurant, we hear about what drives her to lift other women up, her self-doubt, why women shouldn't be forever apologising and how she sees food as a way of giving back especially in Ramadan.
We continue our conversations about women's power with Henrietta Szovati, our Ramadan BFF. This week it's about power in the home: what are the many different roles women play and how to be our centred selves, the same person whether we are mother, wife, sister, aunt, daughter or more. We consider how culture affects our households and the unique cultures we create in them as well as the value of nourishing and caring.
Plus, Hana and Iman are here to share their wisdom in our segment hearing what the girls have to say about power and the home. What makes them feel valued and respected, are their power dynamics between different siblings and parents, and who or what really holds the most power in the home? Their answer might surprise you!

S2 Ep3: 2025: Week 2 (Dunya Maumoon)
We're back for Week 2 of Ramadan, and our conversations about women's power.
Our Ramadan BFF, Henrietta Szovati, tackles the barriers that hold us back from claiming our power: anger, guilt, people pleasing, shame and even abuse. She guides us simply and effectively through the steps to setting healthy boundaries, what it will feel like when we first start to say 'no' and the question we always need to ask ourselves: 'Am I okay with this'? This is essential listening.
Former Foreign Minister of the Maldives, Dunya Maumoon, shares her personal insights about Ramadan in the Maldives. A rare woman on a global stage - less than a quarter of ministerial roles globally are held by women - she talks to us about what it means to be a powerful person, why holding true to your values and representing your people informs what she does, and how her faith inspires her. Plus what was it like to speak at the UN.
And, in our intergenerational segment, Hana and Iman discuss whether as girls they are expected to behave in certain ways, including keeping the peace. And they go controversial on the subject of having a 'confidence button'.

S2 Ep2: 2025: Week 1 (Mariah Idrissi)
It's the start of Ramadan, so time for upliftment and the beginning of our new series which focuses on women's power.
Our Ramadan BFF Henrietta Szovati walks us through female and feminine power, what happens when we don't claim it and the benefits when we do. As well as practical tips on what we can do to start identifying and growing our power.
Fashion model, creative and filmmaker Mariah Idrissi gives us a glimpse into her Ramadan. She talks to us about how her ideas of power have evolved over a decade of being in the public eye as an influencer and why she thinks power over the self is the most important kind.
Plus, this episode brings intergenerational insights as we talk to Hana and Iman about what power means to girls today, and why they think it matters. In fact, this whole series is family-friendly so why not listen along together.
