Falling, as it did, between Sepang and Singapore, there was plenty to debrief and preview in this livestream with Peter. From Friday through to Sunday, Peter analyses the key elements of F1's return to the legendary Sepang track in Malaysia, scene of the "Bahrain GP" that was cancelled earlier in the year due to the unrest in the Middle East.  After a slow start from the pole on intermediates in the wet, Max Verstappen went on to score his first win of the season for Red Bull-RBPT Ford, decisively beating the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli.  Sir Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari chose to start on Pirelli slicks but, after sinking to P18, Lewis recovered brilliantly eventually to finish third. George Russell, trailing his team-mate, lost P3 due to a power unit issue late in the race; neither McLaren-Mercedes was ever in contention; and Isack Hadjar seemed set to finish P3/P4 in the other Red Bull before a late-race problem with the battery.

Excluding the staged one-twos of the Michael Schumacher/Ferrari era, Baku produced the closest F1 finish since...Jerez, 1986, when Ayrton Senna's Lotus-Renault crossed the line only 0.014 ahead of Nigel Mansell's Williams-Honda. At Baku, 2026, Max Verstappen's Red Bull-RBPT-Ford was only 0.196 behind George Russell's winning Mercedes as they crossed the line, bringing to an end a race of two worlds - a tedious follow-the-leader procession in the first phase followed by a Safety Car-generated, dramatic reboot over the closing 16 laps. Isack Hadjar underpinned an excellent day for Red Bull by finishing a strong third ahead of Charles Leclerc's Ferrari; Kimi Antonelli finished fifth in the other Mercedes (after starting 16th); and Sir Lewis Hamilton placed sixth in the other Ferrari.
