• Shavuot Special

  As this past week was without a Torah Portion, we instead studied the passages on Shavuot! We discussed the connection between Shavuot and Pentecost, the differences between Greek and Hebraic thought, and how a cohesive life depends upon a cohesive world view. We run through the "10 Commandments," how there are technically more then the 10 we generally think of, and how it relates to the 613 mitzvot also given to Moses by Elohim. • Parashat Bamidbar

  This week we discuss Parashat Bamidbar (Numbers 1:1 - 4:20), starting off with a famous debate between the Pharisees and the Sadducees about when to start counting the Omer after Passover, which determines when Shavuot actually begins. We also discuss some Hebraic linguistics and the importance of being more then just a number, and how this relates to this weeks portion. Finally we end this weeks addition of Torah Topics with an intriguing question about the Prophets, and the favor God bestows upon His people when they follow after His will and His Torah.
