All Access Star Trek - A TrekMovie.com Podcast

This is a special bonus episode for both the TrekMovie podcasts: All Access Star Trek and Shuttle Pod. This is a live recording of the TrekMovie “Star Trek Status Report 2026” panel from Creation’s Trek to Vegas convention in Las Vegas, recorded on the opening day of the convention, Wednesday August 5. On the panel were TrekMovie founder Anthony Pascale along with his All Access Star Trek co-host Laurie Ulster, and Shuttle Pod co-hosts Matt Wright and Brian Drew, all TrekMovie.com editors. We had a spirited discussion about how Star Trek is at a pivot point, with things appearing to wind down while there are some some signs of optimism for the future. There were some interesting comments and questions from audience members as well. A regular episode of the All Access Star Trek podcast will post on Friday, with a review of SNW 403, followed by a supplemental featuring interviews with Scotty actor Martin Quinn and an exciting guest star from episode 403. Look for that supplemental to drop on Saturday.

In this supplementary episode, Anthony & Laurie talk with Axelle Carolyn, director of episode 402 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, “The Griffin Incident.” A horror vet and Star Trek fan, Axelle breaks down some specific scenes and talks about the choice to get gory and the unresolved ending. Anthony and Laurie kick things off with a business update about the Paramount/WB merger, then dive into the news that came out of San Diego Comic-Con on Starfleet Academy, Sprouts, Strange New Worlds, and the movie being written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, as well as discussions about the future of the franchise as a whole. They also give a quick STLV preview and talk about their new collaboration with the SyFy Sistas. After that, they review episode 402 of Strange New Worlds, “The Griffin Incident,” looking at visuals, storytelling, character development, and the genre swing. They wrap up with their bits of the week: Kumail Nanjiani talking about his love for Trek, and a great story about TNG fan Sammy Davis Jr. on  Dropping Names with Brent and Jonny.

One more special supplemental episode tied to the season 4 premiere of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This time Tony and Laurie welcome back Chris Fisher, who directed episode 401 (“Valles Marineris”) and is an executive producer and the show’s producing director, based in Toronto. We talk extensively about the challenges and nuances of the series premiere and jump into discussing the rest of the season, season 5, and his upcoming book about virtual production.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is back and so are Anthony and Laurie! They review the season 4 premiere, “Valles Marineris,” which is a good old-fashioned Star Trek story with new character arcs beginning and impressive visual effects.
