    02/07/2026 | 1h 25 mins.
Mike Kojima is someone that needs no introduction because of the notoriety that he has from his roll at Sport Compact Car magazine, and more recently MotoIQ.Mike was at Pikes Peak this year with the Evasive Motorsports Ioniq 5 N and our paths crossed and I was able to get him to come on and have a chat on the Podcast! In this episode, we talk about what it was like working with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, and how it compared to some of the earlier cars that he helped get ready to run up Pikes Peak.We also talk about Subaru, what he likes about the EJ and FA engines, and what needs attention. We also talk about how the STI stacks up compared to an EVO, and what might be coming out from Subaru in the not too distant future.I hope you enjoy the conversation and Stay Tuned! We mention a couple of videos that Mike has made about Subaru on his MotoIQ channel, and here are links to them:EJ vs FA engines:https://youtu.be/AU9U9JCCwqo?si=1uGLY7Z01_6tR3CrHow to build a Subaru that won't blow up:https://youtu.be/cRr2pc9ctgE?si=EVkG7V7y772-c7N0Why Subaru engines blow up:https://youtu.be/ZrnHrNla17o?si=6dU4Aat3FcGb4lcw

In the Automotive Aftermarket world, there has been a change happening in the background that has been under the radar up until the last few years.A few Private Equity groups have been slowly starting to take hold of more and more Automotive brands, and in some cases of late, the changes that are coming out of this are becoming more and more noticeable. With this in mind, Jon sat down with Justin from Overtake USA, and Dan from Mach V Motorsport to dive into the subject. For this episode, we decided to take a look at:- What it looks like when Private Equity invests in a company- How and why it can go well- When it can go wrongJustin has lived through both sides of this experience with the first company that he founded, Grimmspeed, so he has a lot of experience and perspective on this to share. Thanks for listening and Stay Tuned!

Subaru's 3 new MT Cars (New STI? TY85 WRX?), Dewey's Run at Gridlife, Smeedia's New 2005 STI

    18/06/2026 | 1h 10 mins.
There has been a lot that has gone on since we last had this group together, and we wanted to cover all of those topics in this episode.Dewey was just running his car Boogie at Gridlife Midwest Fest, and we start off talking about how that all went.Subaru has now announced that they are working 3 new Manual Transmission cars that should be coming out by the end of next year, the most exciting of which is what they are saying will be the production version of the STI Performance B Concept car. But it sounds like they may also be making the STI Transmission (TY85) available in at least some WRX models???What does this all mean, and what will we see here in the US market? We give you our thoughts. Finally, Tanner has picked up a 2005 STI, that is very close to stock, and it is basically a Time Capsule to 2005 (It has been tuned on a V1 AccessPort for the last 19 years). Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!

Analog Vs Digital - What is the best Driving Experience?

    21/05/2026 | 1h 17 mins.
What is the best Driving Experience? Is it Analog?Or is it Digital? Most of what you will hear lately revolves around an Analog Driving Experience. But is really as good as it gets?Part of the motivation for this topic is the Driver Controlled Center Differential that comes in the STI. The more you start to understand how much of a difference the DCCD configuration can make, it becomes clear that this is one of the key aspects that makes an STI or modified Subaru handle the way that it does. But is that still considered Analog? And are their other more "Digital" aspects of a cars handling or driving feel that also improve the overall experience? This is the topic that Art, Dewey, Tanner, and Jon discuss on this episode of the Flatirons Syndicate Podcast. Thanks for listening and Stay Tuned!
