Ende Februar war 'Nahrung für Europa' live auf der Internationalen Landwirtschaftsmesse in Paris, mit einer Sondersendung über die neue Vision für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung, die die Europäische Kommission kurz zuvor veröffentlicht hatte. Und unsere Frage war auch, in welche Zukunft diese neue Vision weist. Diese Episode ist eine Zusammenfassung der Debatte.
Die Eckpfeiler der neuen Vision sind Landwirtschaft als Beruf wieder attraktiv zu machen, die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der europäischen Landwirtschaft zu fördern, den Schutz der natürlichen Ressourcen weiter auszubauen und die Verbindung zwischen regionalen Produkten und Konsumenten wieder herzustellen.

Fin février, « Nourrir l'Europe » était en direct du Salon international de l'agriculture à Paris, pour une édition spéciale consacrée à la nouvelle Vision pour l'Agriculture et l'Alimentation que venait d’annoncer la Commission européenne. Quel avenir dessine cette vision pour l’agriculture européenne ? C’était la question au cœur du débat, résumé dans cet épisode.
Cette nouvelle vision repose sur quatre piliers principaux : restaurer l‘attractivité des professions agricoles, promouvoir la compétitivité de l'agriculture européenne, développer la protection des ressources naturelles et rétablir le lien entre produits régionaux et consommateurs.

At the end of February, 'Food for Europe' was live at the International Agricultural Fair in Paris, with a special broadcast on the new Vision for Agriculture and Food that the European Commission had recently published, and a consideration of what future this new vision points to. This episode is a summary of the debate.
The cornerstones of the new vision are to make agriculture attractive again as a profession, to promote the competitiveness of European agriculture, to further expand the protection of natural resources and to re-establish the connection between regional products and consumers.
Our guests in Paris were Christophe Hansen, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food; Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, Director of Strategy and Policy Analysis at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture & Rural Development; Dominique Chargé, President of La Coopération agricole, an association of rural cooperatives in France; Quentin Le Guillous, the Secretary General of Jeunes Agriculteurs, a professional association of young farmers; and, from the French Agricultural Academy, Jean-Marie Séronie.

51. Data sharing: a promising harvest for farmers
In this 51st edition of Food for Europe, we are exploring the role that data, and the broader availability of data, can play in making Europe’s agriculture more efficient – and in particular, what it means for farmers and policymakers.
Farming has always been an innovative sector – but it’s only in the past decade or so that the enormous potential of digital technology in agriculture has become clear.
This episode is all about data sharing and how it works: the upsides, the policy framework and the challenges.
Our field report comes from Flanders in Belgium, where we meet Jurgen Vangeyte from the Flanders Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries & Food Research (ILVO) to discuss ILVO’s development of an innovative data-sharing platform, DjustConnect; and we meet Carine Cornu, a farmer in the region whose use of the platform has substantially reduced the time she spends on paperwork.
European Commission experts Evangelia Mourmoura and Malte Beyer-Katzenberger provide their perspectives from a policymaking viewpoint on the growth of data sharing in agriculture and the development of a Europe-wide data-sharing space.
