#019 Healing Trauma and Complex PTSD (CPTSD): Shadow Work and Carl Jung's answer to Trauma
02/6/2025 | 19 mins.
Hi, I am Harry Venice and I am an Attachment, Trauma, and Jungian Therapist. I am also certified to score Adult Attachment Interviews for Reflective Function for clinical and research purposes.👉 Book 1:1s with me at www.harryvenice.comComplex PTSD or CPTSD is a real disorder with real consequences. It was recently added to the ICD-11 as a diagnosis. CPTSD is similar to PTSD, but is much more complicated due to the long term nature of the trauma & abuse suffered. In Part 2 of my special lecture on trauma, I explain how Carl Jung identified a key common element he found in his patients who suffered extreme traumas: they 'outgrew' and adapted from their trauma. They contextualized it. It wasnt a problem that simply 'solved'. This Jungian view is consistent with the latest research & neuroscience on trauma memory & flashbacks. In this lecture I address the following via the below Chapters:00:00:00 - EMDR vs Exposure Therapy & trauma memory processing00:01:00 - Complex trauma needs many modalities00:01:45 - Carl Jung said we must "OUTRGOW" Trauma00:02:21 - FLASHBACKS 00:03:56 - Trauma and The Shadow00:06:21 - Trauma is in the BODY00:06:43 - The Unconscious Mind & Trauma00:08:14 - C-PTSD: Isolation & Dysregulation00:10:02 - You need a 'Secure Base' / Safe Therapist for Trauma Processing00:12:49 - Summary of Trauma Healing 00:16:08 - "Authority!: you must AUTHOR your own story00:19:05 - Healing the HOLE IN YOUR HEARTDisclaimer: I am not your therapist or physician. #018 The Final step to overcome Trauma and Complex PTSD (CPTSD): Neuroscience, Flashbacks Carl Jung's answer to Trauma
16/2/2025 | 19 mins.
How does the Neuroscience of Complex PTSD meet with Carl Jung?!I explore that in this episode.Neuroscience provides the foundations. Carl Jung provides a final step.Complex PTSD or CPTSD is a real disorder with real consequences. It was recently added to the ICD-11 as a diagnosis. CPTSD is similar to PTSD, but is much more complicated due to the long term nature of the trauma and abuse suffered. In todays special lecture I summarise the key neuroscience behind trauma memory and flashbacks. I then explain how Carl Jung identified a key common element he found in his patients who suffered extreme traumas: they 'outgrew' and adapted from their trauma. They contextualized it. It wasnt a problem that simply 'solved'. This lecture and this quote from Jung are the most important lesson for those with trauma. It is wisdom. More than science. Of course I break down the neuroscience and evidence as well... but complex trauma or complex ptsd is called 'complex' for a reason. It truly effects a person's entire identity and soul. It requires alot of resilience and adaptability of attitude to outgrow it. We don't 'solve' it... but rather we outgrow it and adapt.Part 2 of the lecture is dropping next week.Topics: #Trauma #PTSD #ComplexTrauma, shadow work, jungian analysis, jungian analyst near me, jungian therapist, jungian psychology, Jungian therapist near me, archetypes, shadow work prompts, shadow work exercises, shadow work journal, shadow work guided meditation, shadow work reddit,, attachment therapist near me, cptsd meaning, trauma, complex trauma, trauma, trauma healing, inner child, inner child work, ptsd, attachment theory, attachment styles, jungian dream analysis, shadow work prompts, shadow work journal, TPTSD treatment, Trauma Therapy, Intergeneration Trauma, EMDR Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-Informed, Trauma Counseling, Emotional Trauma Treatment, Complex Trauma, Trauma and Anxiety, Trauma and Depression, Trauma Therapist, Mindfulness, PTSD therapy near me, Trauma therapy near me, Healing Childhood Trauma, Attachment-Based Therapy, Book 1:1s with me at www.harryvenice.com Write a positive review and then head to ...Website: https://www.harryvenice.com/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@HarryVeniceInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/HarryVenice_ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@HarryVenice
