  • Friendsgiving: Welcoming People to God’s Table
Thanksgiving gives us a beautiful chance to practice radical hospitality—welcoming others into our lives and treating them like family. But what if this year, you opened up your table in a way that reflects how big God's family really is? In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Tina joins me for a conversation about Friendsgiving—a simple but powerful way to include others in your life, especially those who may not have a place to celebrate. We’ll talk about how to shift your mindset, get your family on board, and create space at your table for gospel relationships to grow. You don’t need a perfect meal. You just need a seat, a little flexibility, and a willingness to love like Jesus. In This Episode You’ll Learn: Why expanding your definition of “family” is central to living on mission. Who you might invite this year—and how to ask without it being awkward. What to do when your relatives aren’t thrilled about “outsiders” joining the table. How to express thankfulness in a way that feels genuine and Spirit-led. Get started here... From this episode: “Don’t worry about trying to pull off the ‘perfect’ dinner! A place at the table and flexibility are the key things to remember. When you open up a space at your table for someone, it is like they are being invited to ‘God’s table’... because, in fact, they are!” Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. • Moving The Church Into the 7 Pillars of Society
We often talk about “the culture” like it’s something out there... something other people shape. But the truth is, we are the culture. God has placed each of us right in the middle of it—on purpose. The question isn’t whether Christians have a role in shaping society, the question is, how intentional will we be about it? In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we look at what historians call the 7 Pillars of Society—realms that form the foundation of every culture—and how God’s plan to restore all things includes your role within them.  This isn’t about adding more church activities—it’s about moving the church (that’s us!) into everyday life where discipleship belongs. Your gifts, relationships, and influence already exist within one or more of these pillars. Let’s explore how to recognize that and lean in. In This Episode You’ll Learn: How every society is built around the same 7 foundational “pillars” Why God placed you (and your church) within specific parts of culture How disciple-making fits naturally into every one of the 7 Pillars Why relational trust—not structure—is the key to cultural engagement Get started here... From this episode: "God has uniquely and sovereignly placed you right where he wants you within one or several of the Pillars. He has gifted you and given you relationships of trust within this segment of your culture already. The level of intentionality you bring to this will determine how effective you’ll be at engaging and transforming this part of your culture." • Not Another Small Group: How to Build a Missional Family
Starting a missional community from scratch doesn’t mean rallying your friends for another weekly meeting or trying to sell people on “doing life together.” It begins with something much deeper—and much closer to home. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, I’ll talk about what it really looks like to start a true missional community that feels like family and lives on mission together in the everyday stuff of life. If you’ve ever longed for more than just rows and routines, this one's for you. In This Episode You’ll Learn: What sets a missional community apart from typical small groups or Bible studies. Why you don’t need permission or a program to start something new. Why it starts with your own family rhythms, not a church calendar. 7 practical steps to begin forming a community that lives like family and makes disciples. Free Start-up Guide to get you going quickly. Get started here... From this episode: "Mission happens in the normal stuff of life, with new friends and disciples in tow, with the Good News dripping out of your mouth and being proclaimed in every step, bite of food, and breath you take. The life you’ve dreamed of is possible… and it starts around your own dinner table. You will love this new lifestyle!" Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started. • Preparing Your Community for Healthy Growth and Change
Has your missional community started to feel more like a small group that meets than a family that grows and multiplies? Even strong communities can get stuck in comfortable rhythms if leaders aren’t intentional about growth and sending. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, I’ll help you rethink how to prepare your community for healthy growth and change. Multiplication isn’t a threat to relationships—it’s proof that God’s Spirit is at work. We’ll talk about how to plan for it, communicate it well, and walk your people through the transition with grace and confidence.  Healthy things always grow. That means your group will change, and that’s a good thing. I’ll show you how to lead with both vision and empathy so your community can stay focused on the mission—without losing heart. In This Episode You’ll Learn: How to normalize the idea of growth and multiplication early in your community’s life. Ways to prepare your people emotionally and practically for sending and change. How to talk about grief and loss in a way that strengthens relationships. Why keeping things small, simple, and reproducible helps leaders develop new communities. Get started here... From this episode: "We need to expect growth and multiplication to happen in our communities while letting everyone involved know that this is normal and good. And just like when our children leave home and become adults who start families of their own, there is a grieving process that rightfully occurs when we send “family members” off on mission to start new works." • Why Aren’t Christians Happier?
Many Christians believe that knowing Jesus should naturally make us happy… yet, if we’re honest, a lot of us don’t always feel that way. Why aren’t Christians happier people? This week on the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we talk with author and pastor David McDonald about how happiness isn’t something we arrive at—it’s something we practice. We explore why happiness is more than a feeling—it’s a reflection of the gospel at work in us. True happiness is possible, no matter your past or personality, when grace begins shaping who you’re becoming. In This Episode You’ll Learn: What true happiness is and how the Bible defines it. Why Christians often struggle to live joyfully. Why Jesus was likely the happiest person who ever lived. Simple, gospel-centered steps to start experiencing more joy today. Get started here... From this episode: "As Christians, knowing that we are “saved” doesn’t always produce a life full of happiness. But the Gospel speaks grace over us and into our lives and produces fertile ground for a truly happy life. Will you embark on the pursuit of happiness?"
