In today’s Lindsay Clancy Trial Day 10 morning testimony recap, Dr. Jennifer Tufts remains on the stand for cross-examination as the defense and prosecution dig deeper into Lindsay’s psychiatric care in the months leading up to January 24, 2023. The questioning focuses on Dr. Tufts’ experience treating postpartum mental health conditions, including the rarity of postpartum psychosis, how symptoms can vary from patient to patient, and whether hearing voices can be part of the disorder.

Cross-examination also examines Dr. Tufts’ practice, how she was presented on the practice website, her experience with postpartum depression and perinatal mental health, and her prior experience treating patients with postpartum psychosis. We also hear testimony surrounding psychiatric medications and CYP450 testing, including Dr. Tufts’ explanation of what that testing can—and cannot—tell doctors about how an individual patient may respond to or metabolize psychiatric medications. I’m breaking down the key testimony, important moments from cross-examination, and what the jury heard during the morning session.
