🎲 Can a board game become your DM's secret weapon? Dr. Homebrew puts Roll Player by Thunderworks Games to the ultimate test, using it as an NPC generator for your TTRPG table! Spoiler: the results surprised even him. 👀

In this episode, Josh dives deep into Roll Player's competitive character-building system of class selection, randomized backgrounds, colored dice, loot tables, skills, and attributes. He is looking for the answer to the big question every Game Master wants answered: Can I use this to generate rich, compelling NPCs on the fly?

The answer? Well... it's complicated. 😅

Josh discovers that Roll Player is less a quick-at-the-table tool and more of a character development powerhouse. It's perfect for crafting long-term recurring NPCs and memorable player characters with real depth, narrative weight, and surprising story directions.
