- I went for an IV of iron this week as I’m anaemic. I was told it would take six to eight weeks to take effect. Hmmm... So why was I able to lift a car today with no help, I wonder.
While you ponder that, I was able to coax the Big Guy to guide his chariot to land in our valet space at Studio A and see the Mystery Man and I off to make mischief while he patiently waited. And what music we played!
The Electric Prunes, The Teardrop Explodes, The Meters, Blue Rodeo, and Roy Wood’s Wizzard, from my side of the studio and the Mystery Man filleted us with Frigg from Finland to end the end our frolic.
Till next week, S’lainte, Good Fortune and Go Well. - This bruised warrior is this post away from piling up the zzz’s, aka achieving a nocturnal night move, aka sleep.
It was a beautiful autumn evening to make radio noise for your entertainment dollar on this Wednesday, October 15. So we did.
The Mystery Man and I lobbed music and off mic banter for our show within a show, and the Big Guy bore witness to our shenanigans at Studio A.
Just some of those shenanigans included at our Oaf Without Borders radio two-hour tour de farce of word, sound and power on display, featured power anthems by some of the biggest and the the humble starring the following (because we don’t discriminate).
The Sun Ra Arkestra, Leon Bridges, The Electric Flag, The Elmer Gantry Velvet Orchestra, and Kim Gordon from my treasure chest - and the Mystery Man went Americana on our arses, with Steve Martin.
We then escaped by the light of the autumnal silvery moon to presumably play another day from the Good Ship Free FM 89.0 out of Hamilton NZ, and out of sight to the average postmodern boy and girl. - Please join us for a sip from the overflowing cup of sounds that we hand pick to pass on to you dear friends, on this week’s foray into fun, aka the Paleface Parabola quest of two hours to leave a positive impression on you.
Co starring the Mystery Man and me,Jumpin JB. Resistance to us might be an exercise of futility.
Teaser time. Be Bop Deluxe, Jah Wobble, Isaac Hayes, Del McCoury Band, and War are several of my soirées and The Mystery Man has a Galactic Cowboy this week to end the show... and then we toss the keys to the Acid hungover Retrospect show, episode 748.
One Draft Jones is now out. - Being but a pawn in game of life...
I humbly arrive at your feed to tell the countryside AND yourself to carve out two hours of time, and to spend that time with the Mystery Man, our behind the scenes team, and me.
We are the Paleface Parabola radio squad of test pilots who bring this racket to your ears no matter what part of the Third Rock from the sun you dwell in.
Music builds character.And characters!
The weekly tease regarding our scheme. Its less nerve-wracking than the Sunday crossword puzzle.
1 Tom Robinson Band
2 Leon Bridges
3 The Fleshtones
4 Dave Bartholomew
5 Robin Trower
And the Mystery Man ‘s salvo of the week comes with Turkish overtones.
One Draft Jones... signing off. - Sinners and saints alike, have a seat at the table of Jerry’s holiday camp.
We don’t however camp it up on this programme. It's a two-hour informal run towards radio fortune and glory and a sharing, like we did in the old days, of music the Mystery Man and I think you might like to hear.
To that end, and we’ll post the full playlist on our social media page tomorrow, here’s a prelude to our caper. This includes the likes of Coltrane and Brother Ray, and a kid from Freehold, and the Crescendos, and Barrence Whitfield & the Savages. The Mystery Man’s hit of the week is simply nifty.
Victory might be ours.
