S2E8: Energy Healing Part 1: Consciousness at Work in the Body
In Part 1 of this two part exploration, we turn from the mind to the body and begin with a mystery that modern science has struggled to explain. Energy healing is one of the oldest medical traditions on Earth, yet it has long existed at the margins of Western understanding. The episode opens with a Cambridge-trained material scientist, Simon Duan, whose worldview shifts instantly when a Qigong practitioner in China removes his wisdom teeth pain-free - without anesthesia. His story leads us into the origins of ancient Chinese medicine, where psychic doctors once perceived organs with their mind’s eye and communicated with plants to understand their medicinal properties. From there, we meet healer Julie Goeltz, whose husband’s life-threatening lymphedema disappeared during a Reiki session, launching her into a practice that now includes remote healing and vivid remote viewing experiences that transcend physical distance.
