    Episode 378: Wondrous Lands IV

    11/06/2026 | 1h 21 mins.
Join Frank for another instalment of Wondrous Lands, a live play series of Earthborne Rangers. This is the first campaign, Lure of the Valley, solo. As this is recorded live, slips and errors are sure to creep in, so please extend me your understanding - I hope you enjoy the journey alongside me! If you want more of an explainer of the game, check out the first Wondrous Lands episode, where I offer more of a rules explainer.

You can view the map here, the campaign log here and my deck here.

    Episode 377: Arcane Environments

    28/05/2026 | 48 mins.
Join Peter and Frank as they tease apart two related but not quite the same things: environments and chapters. What are they both? How do they impact the game? How do they even work? Should we care? All this and more in this episode!

Episode 376: Arkham Horror Core Set 2026 - First Impressions

    14/05/2026 | 1h 19 mins.
Join Frank and Peter as they look at some of the hits and misses of the chapter two core set - aka the 2026 core set - for Arkham Horror The Card Game, and specifically the highs and lows of Brethren of Ash, the core set campaign. We're looking at what we love, what worked for us, and what left us wanting more.

Episode 375: Think on your Feet LIII

    07/05/2026 | 52 mins.
Join Frank for another Think on your Feet episode. Here ends our Brethren of Ash solo playthrough!

In Think on your Feet episodes, I endeavour not to edit much at all. Sometimes I cut some shuffling sounds or abbreviate some of my longer pauses (a chap's got to think!), but otherwise, it's uncut, unaltered and meant to feel like you're with me at the table. There may be mistakes and misplays, but hopefully some successes too.

    My deck: third scenario

    0.00 intro and audio stuff
    1.35 xp options
    3.42 note from previous scenario
    5.10 scenario intro
    8.20 setup
    10.50 act and agenda
    11.50 opening hand
    12.50 or so: gameplay begins
    45.20 a little codex interlude
    45.50 resolution and wrap-up.
    49.00 design notes

At 30.10 I defeat Servant of Flame and forget to trigger its codex - I remember at 45.10!

Episode 374: Think on your Feet LII

    30/04/2026 | 1h 36 mins.
Join Frank for another Think on your Feet episode. The patrons have voted, so we're embarking on "<patron choice of chapter 2 investigator> versus Brethren of Ash"

My deck: first scenario | second scenario

    0.00 preamble
    2.05 first scenario intro
    4.35 opening hand
    5.05 gameplay begins
    33.10 first scenario analysis
    33.55 second scenario intro
    36.55 what's the map like?
    41.03 opening hand
    41.26 gameplay begins

1.27.15 I forget to take a horror from a pursuing Whippoorwill but a minute later I remember it.
During the recording, I realise I may have made a rather major mess-up this playthrough, somehow internalising that Izzie's ability is once per test rather than once per round. I do spot this error at 1.01.25... and during the edit I've checked and I never in fact make the error! Phewee! Just shows how things can slip by. So even though I am not sure whether I used her ability multiple times per phase, it turns out... I didn't.
