Ep 437: Understanding Primitive Reflexes with Niki McGlynn

    08/2/2026 | 44 mins.
When emotional outbursts, anxiety, or learning struggles show up, the root cause isn’t always obvious. In this episode, I sit down with Niki McGlynn, a UK-based homeopath specialising in primitive reflex integration and ADHD coaching, to unpack how early movement patterns shape the nervous system. We explore how retained primitive reflexes can affect emotional regulation, focus, and learning, including links to dyslexia and ADHD. Niki breaks down key reflexes like the Moro and neck reflexes and explains what their impact can look like in everyday life. She also shares practical, movement-based ways parents can support integration in both children and adults.

    Episode Highlights:
02:16 - When personal healing sparks a career shift
    06:09 - Understanding Primitive Reflexes
07:24 - Is it ever too late to integrate reflexes?
10:12 - Seeing Irlen syndrome from a new perspective
11:41 - What mums should look out for to make sure reflexes are properly integrated
14:35 - The timeline of primitive reflex development
16:59 - Understanding the fear paralysis reflex
19:31 - How urinary incontinence links to spinal reflexes
20:35 - How homeopathy and movement complement each other
23:18 - When parenting courses don’t feel enough
    28:04 - Niki’s Daughter’s Dyslexia Journey
31:05 - Why bad handwriting might be a reflex issue
35:04 - Common misconception about primitive reflexes
38:10 - Finding Practitioners for Reflex Integration

    About my Guests:
Niki McGlynn trained as a homeopath in 2000, she always had an interest in neurodiversity, writing her dissertation on Can Homeopathy Improve Communication in Children with Autism. After she and her daughter both received a dyslexia diagnosis in 2012 she looked for additional help and discovered the incredible world of primitive reflexes. She began using primitive reflex integration techniques with her existing clients, continued training to be an instructor and teach other therapists and now runs her own training. Understanding primitive reflexes, how they manifest and how to encourage them to integrate has been an incredible journey that sits very comfortably alongside homeopathy as it is another truly holistic practice. Clients can use simple movements at home with their child or on themselves which gives them some responsibility for their own care and will help remedies do their work. Niki runs regular training courses all over the country and is happy to provide training to any group of people if they can organise a venue.

Throwback Thursday Ep 151: Breathe, Sleep, Thrive - Discover how airway health can unlock your child’s greater health, learning and potential - with Dr Shereen

    04/2/2026 | 37 mins.
Did you know that a child's breathing pattern influences every aspect of their development?

In today's episode, I interviewed Dr. Shereen Lim, who will share her knowledge of airway health and tongue-tie solutions to help children achieve greater health and wellness. She will also discuss the symptoms that are frequently treated without taking into account underlying airway issues, how to aid the jaws to grow properly, and how to promote airway health.

Dr. Shereen Lim was one of Australia’s first handful of dentists to obtain a qualification in dental sleep medicine and has a decade of experience working with patients with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. She is an engaging speaker who is calling for a reformed approach to care. Rather than managing dysfunctional breathing and its consequences, Dr. Lim is focused on promoting airway health. This means promoting good airway development and reinforcing nasal breathing from infancy as keys to good sleep, thriving, and long-term health. Dr. Lim regularly sees infants through adults and has been able to pinpoint the issues in infancy that lead to bigger problems down the track. She is passionate about educating child health professionals from a variety of fields to recognize the earliest warning signs of poor airway health, including poor oral function and poor jaw development, and promote collaborative care to address these as early as possible. Her vision is to help more children receive timely care to breathe, sleep, and thrive to their full potential, and avoid growing into more serious problems later in life.

    Check out these episode highlights:
03:59 - What is airway health
06:56 - What signs should parents look for in their children that may indicate poor airway health
12:57 - The significance of breastfeeding in muscle development
16:32 - How can we start to help children with sleep issues
22:00 - The importance of tongue tie assessment and how it can help prevent future issues

Ep 436: Introducing Homeopathy with Kim Elia

    01/2/2026 | 35 mins.
What started as a single documentary has grown into a much bigger conversation about homeopathy and its place in modern medicine. Kim Elia, executive producer of Introducing Homeopathy, reflects on how the film’s reach has fueled new interest in homeopathy and inspired his next project, Investigating Homeopathy. He discusses why the new film focuses on the persecution of practitioners, sharing stories like those of Dr. George Guess and veterinarian Margo Roman. The conversation also touches on the importance of acknowledging both criticism and support for homeopathy, including recognition from prominent figures. Kim shares what’s ahead and why continued support matters as the work moves forward.

    Episode Highlights:
03:39 - Update on Investigating Homeopathy
    05:25 - Persecution of Homeopathy
07:45 - Interview with Dr. George Guess
    09:40 - Meeting Margo Roman
10:22 - Theme of the Pilot: Persecution and Advocacy
12:09 - Reasons to Investigate Homeopathy
    13:35 - Clip Introduction
    15:49 - Hollywood Blockbuster on Hahnemann's Life
18:01 - Story Elements of the Film
21:29 - Kim's Work Ethic and Community Support
23:05 - Homeopathy in Action Series
    28:16 - Investigating Homeopathy Preview

    About my Guests:
Kim Elia was inspired to study homeopathy when he read Gandhi’s quote, “Homœopathy cures a greater percentage of cases than any other method of treatment. Homœopathy is the latest and most refined method of treating patients economically and non-violently.” He wondered why Gandhi, a champion of Indian tradition, would be touting homeopathy so highly, when India has such a long history of using Ayurvedic medicine, and he subsequently embarked on a lifelong homeopathic journey.

Since 1987 Kim has studied with many great homeopathic educators. He has lectured and trained homeopaths across the globe. He was the principal instructor and developer of the four year classical homeopathy program at the Hahnemann Academy in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. An archive of Kim's popular classes can be found on the WholeHealthNow website.

Kim has been involved with software development for over two decades. With a team of homeopaths Kim has created Homeopathic HouseCall, an online app used for homeopathic first aid and acute care. He also established an online telehealth platform that allows practitioners to safely and securely offer homeopathic care from any location. AND, he has recently completed an exciting project he has long dreamed of, a feature length film about homeopathy that will help us to introduce our great healing art to the public at large, with the objective of having homeopathy become a household word.
