In each episode, Patrick Hamilton and Gena Radcliffe unpack all the gory details of horror cinema's least discussed topic: the characters. From Friday the 13th ...
KBK After Dark - Basic Instinct (w/ How to Be a Terrible Daughter)
If there’s a thin line between clever and stupid, the line has never been thinner than today’s movie. So grab your ice pick and leave your underwear at home - Kill By Kill After Dark is back, and we’re going deep into what some might call the pinnacle of the 90s erotic thriller, BASIC INSTINCT!! Here to help us reveal all the killer details are Elizabeth Malamed and Megan Caper from the How to Be a Terrible Daughter podcast!! Along the way, we expose the film’s links to Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law, worship at the alter of Sharon Stone, consider the practicalities of wearing sweaters in da clerb, badmouth screenwriter Joe Eszterhas, and faint at the concept of bisexuality in the early 90s. Plus, we examine just how bad of a cop Shooter really is, decide to dress like a cowboy for no reason, debate Johnny Boy’s rock star status, and play a dangerous game of Choose Your Own Deathventure. A brutal murder. A brilliant killer. And a cop too stupid to do anything about it! Join us, won’t you?

Evil Dead (2013)
Are you ready for “the most terrifying film of all time?” That’s the bold claim made by the movie’s marketing - about an even bolder take on the Cabin In The Woods genre! And that’s before it tweaks the deadite formula resulting in a surprisingly emotional result. So let’s crack open that Necronomicon to dive into 2013’s EVIL DEAD - the “rebootiquel” that manages to do the impossible: successfully be its own thing. In this episode, we’re getting under the skin of the film’s characters, the personal dynamics that create real drama amongst the scares, and consider the socio-political overtones that the franchise had skimmed over in the past. All this, plus we talk about one of the worst basements we’ve ever encountered, debate whether Count Orlock is a Dirty Peanut, hear us get in our feelings over this entry, and then pick the best/worst option in a game of Choose Your Own Deathventure!! Check it out, won’t you?

Wolf Man (2025)
This one’s a howler, folks! That’s right, it’s a serious “bad dad/werewolf dad” sitch as we delve into the first major horror title of 2025, WOLF MAN!! Frankly, that may be too many exclamation marks for this ruminative, domestic drama version of the lycanthrope we all know and love. We’re officially “It’s Fine” about it - and we will spend much of the show trying to figure out why. You’ve got Sudden Oatmeal Syndrome, some gentle parenting backlash, too-big spiders, deep woods carjacking, and dig into the only “conflict-free” werewolf drama we’ve ever watched. All this, plus we ask where all the guns went, wonder why Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan is so weirdly sexual, black light filters, and the triumphant return of Wolfen-Vision!! Plus, we have a new game: How Many Trailers Will Play Before The Movie At My Local AMC?! Catch Hill Fever with us today!!

End of Days (1999)
Do you remember how the world ended? No? Funny, it was supposed to implode when the clocks switched to the year 2000. Instead, what imploded was our faith in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ability to carry an R-rated action picture when he signed onboard END OF DAYS! Only Patrick and Gena have the guts to celebrate this movie’s 25th anniversary and attempt to explain what in the living hell is happening here. That means Kill By Kill is digging into the film’s cursed production history, considering Satan’s HR problems, witnessing massive fart fights, visiting Vatican City Orlando, whipping up a “floor pizza” smoothie, and meeting our newest least-favorite character: Bobby Chicago!! All this, plus rattlesnake baptisms, flaming pee, too many scrolls, boiled grandmas, Limp Bizkit-shunting threeways, and a devilishly involved edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure! Never has an apocalypse looked so inviting and made less sense.

Nosferatu (2024)
Did we like Robert Egger’s NOSFERATU? Let us Count the ways!! That’s right, the moment we’ve waited for all year has arrived as we talk about bad real estate deals, depressing beaches, Albert Potato, nude virgins on horseback, and Count Orlock’s unique love language as we stake 2024 in the heart!! All this, plus more bad vampire planners, ladies with too much blood, the ultimate Dark Web, and a very chest-sucking heavy edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure!!
And don’t worry… we do “the voice.” Like, a lot.
