  • In the Heat of the Night
Geoff, Mike, and Derrick talk about In The Heat of the Night (1967), currently streaming on Prime Video.  Among other things, we discuss issues related to the Fourth Amendment and police officers outside of their jurisdiction, and nerd-out on the Supreme Court.Geoff brings up the Supreme Court case Terry v. Ohio, decided in the same year In The Heat of the Night was released.  More information on this case can be found here:  Terry v. Ohio on Oyez.We also bring up our episode on Columbo.  Astute listeners will note that we have not released an episode involving the tv show Columbo and Matt and Geoff didn't discuss it in the last iteration of the podcast with Mike and Geoff.  And you are correct!  Columbo was an unreleased beta episode, where the three of us were still trying to get our feet wet.  We plan to release Columbo soon as a side bar because there is some interesting conversations on, among other things, Miranda rights, jurisdiction of the FBI, and Fourth Amendment.Comments?
