The Audio Bible

Adam and Eve tried to cover over their sin...how like them we still are, even thousands of years removed. Our own coverings are not sufficient, just like the fig leaves would have withered and crumbled away again revealing their nakedness. However, it is here God intervened and, through the shedding of blood, provided a covering over for them. God does the same thing for you and I through the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ, the sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!

Today we continue our reading in the Old Testament book of Genesis in the Amplified Bible translation with Genesis chapter 2. You may also have noticed a new format in the beginning. We are no longer going to introduce the audio Bible podcast at the beginning each time, to assist with those listening to more than one episode at a time. Hopefully the change will make listening more seamless, moving from one chapter to the next, simply beginning with the book and chapter then right into verse 1. We will still end with an outro at this time, wrapping a nice bow on the chapter, highlighting that each chapter read comes from the Word of God.

Today we begin reading in the Old Testament book of Genesis in the Amplified Bible translation with Genesis chapter 1. What is the Amplified Bible translation? There are pros and cons, but here is some of what GotQuestions.org (https://www.gotquestions.org/Amplified-Bible-AMP.html) writes about this translation: "The Amplified Bible attempts to take both word meaning and context into account in order to accurately translate the original text from one language into another. The Amplified Bible does this through the use of explanatory alternate readings and amplifications to assist the reader in understanding what Scripture really says. Multiple English word equivalents to each key Hebrew and Greek word clarify and amplify meanings that may otherwise have been concealed by the traditional translation method." PROS + CONS: "The Amplified Bible can be a valuable study tool, as the different “alternate” renderings can give additional insight into the meaning of a text. The problem is the words the AMP gives alternate renderings for CAN mean those things, but do not mean ALL of those things. The fact that a word can have different meanings does not mean that every possible meaning is a valid rendering each time the word occurs. Also, it being based on the American Standard Version results in some of its wordings sounding archaic."
