PC Andrew Harper was a Thames Valley Police officer who was killed in the line of duty on August 15, 2019, at the age of 28.

The case returned to major national headlines in mid-2026 after it emerged that killers Albert Bowers and Jessie Cole could become eligible for early release under government measures to manage prison overcrowding.

In October 2022, an emergency call brought police and paramedics to a home in Deptford, south-east London. What they found inside would lead to a deeply disturbing investigation.

On 14 January 2003, 40-year-old Stephen Oake joined fellow officers on a raid at a flat in Crumpsall, Manchester. What should have been a carefully controlled police operation descended into violence when they encountered Kamel Bourgass, a man linked to a major terrorism investigation.

In 2006, nurse Ben Geen was convicted of murdering two patients and seriously harming 15 others while working at Horton General Hospital in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Prosecutors said Geen deliberately injected patients with potentially lethal drugs before reveling in the medical emergencies that followed. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum of 30 years.

Geen has always maintained his innocence.

Prosecutors said Norris deliberately injected vulnerable women with insulin, causing sudden and unexplained episodes of severe hypoglycaemia.
