Cat and Carson are back from Spain—slightly battered, thoroughly humbled, and armed with plenty of stories from racing in the Pyrenees. They recap the highs, the lows, and the "what on earth just happened?" moments from their races, where things didn't always go according to plan (because trail running loves a plot twist).

Cat shares the surprisingly unglamorous details of "becoming a professional," from dialing in the little things to learning to trust that all the invisible work will eventually pay off. Carson recounts his first race since 2022, including the experience of getting absolutely schooled by Spain's fearless downhill specialists—and somehow enjoying it anyway.

The episode finishes with a debate every modern athlete knows too well: why is posting on social media harder than running up a mountain? Carson isn't buying Cat's excuses and bets she can't post consistently for the next 10 weeks. The challenge is on, the accountability is public, and the internet will be keeping score.

In 2017, Carson was heli-evacuated off the slopes of Jackson Hole, WY. While relearning how to talk and function, he had to find his WHY. While running is less consequential, we relate it back to the importance of finding our 'why' in whatever we choose to pursue. We recorded just before I left for the Western States 100, and we also chat about going back with the pressure of being a past champion, falling in love with the process, high school bullying, and concussion recovery.
