    138. A personal application from Galatians and the true children of Abraham (Galatians 3:7-9)

    15/05/2026 | 47 mins.
In this episode I share a person application from the content of Galatians we have studied so far, and then we move into some new verses and answer the question, "Who are the true children of Abraham?"

    Scriptures referenced:
    John 14:6
    Romans 5:1-2
    Hebrews 12:5-11
    2 Corinthians 5:21
    Proverbs 1:7
    Proverbs 9:10
    Romans 12:2
    Ephesians 5:10
    Hebrews 5:12-14
    Galatians 3:1-9
    Galatians 2:16, 21
    Genesis 15:1-6
    Genesis 12:1-3
    Matthew 1:1-17
    Matthew 3:7-9
    John 8:39-47
    Matthew 8:5-13
    Romans 3:23
    Matthew 11:28-30

    **CORRECTIONS**
When quoting Galatians 3:7, I accidentally omitted the word "the". Here is the passage verbatim: "Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham."
In John 8:40, I said "that" when the verse actually says "this". It makes no interpretive difference, but here is the quote verbatim: "This is not what Abraham did." Similarly, later in the passage I added the word "you" in one place it wasn't. The verse says, "...If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?" (John 8:46).

    137. What's keeping you out of the Promised Land?

    01/05/2026 | 53 mins.
In this episode we look at the biblical example of the Israelites who failed to enter into the Promised Land and reflect on what keeps us from occupying it in our own lives.

"The word crisis comes from a Greek word that means decision or judgment. A crisis of belief is not a calamity in your life but a turning point where you must make a decision. It is a situation that forces you to decide what you truly believe about God. The way you respond at this turning point will determine whether you become involved with God in something God-sized that only He can do or whether you will continue to go your own way and miss what He purposed for your life. This is not a one-time experience. It is a regular occurrence. The way you live your life is a testimony to what you believe about God" (Experiencing God).

    Scriptures referenced:
    Proverbs 17:3
    2 Peter 1:3-4
    James 1:2-4
    Hebrews 12:5-11
    John 10:10
    John 15:1-5
    Romans 8:29
    Numbers 13-14
    Isaiah 26:3
    Psalm 56:3-4
    Joshua 13:1-7
    Judges 3:1-4
    Joshua 11:21-22
    1 Samuel 17:4

    **CORRECTION**
I slightly misquoted 2 Peter 1:3-4. Here is the verse: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire."

    136. Abraham believed (Galatians 3:6)

    15/04/2026 | 52 mins.
This episode is a continuation of our journey through Galatians. We look at Abraham as an example of being counted righteous apart from works. In many ways, this episode serves as a link in the chain. In it we look back at things we have discussed so far and revisit those truths, and in it we also set the stage for the conversation we will have next time.

    135. We need each other

    01/04/2026 | 50 mins.
In this episode we talk about the dangers of isolation and how important it is to have genuine, vulnerable relationships with other believers

    Scriptures referenced:
    1 Samuel 24-25
    Luke 5:15-16
    Mark 1:35-38
    Psalm 105:4
    Hebrews 11:6
    Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
    Proverbs 18:1
    John 2:24-25
    Matthew 26:36-38
    Matthew 23:12
    Luke 14:11
    Luke 18:14
    James 4:6
    Galatians 6:1-2
    Proverbs 27:17
    Hebrews 3:12-13
    Hebrews 10:24-25
    John 13:34-35
    Ephesians 4:32
    Colossians 3:16
    James 5:16
    John 6:70
    Matthew 26:20-22
    1 Peter 4:10-11
    1 Corinthians 12:12-20
    John 15:1-5
    Proverbs 26:12
    Proverbs 12:15
    Romans 12:16
    James 1:22

    **CORRECTIONS**
At one point, I said "In John 2:24-23" (which makes no sense). What I meant to say was John 2:24-25.
I accidentally added the word "and" to 1 Peter 4:10-11. It didn't change the meaning, but here is the verse verbatim: "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."
I did something similar with 1 Corinthians 12:14, which says, "For the body does not consist of one member but of many."
