A childhood game inside an empty house becomes the beginning of years of terrifying encounters no one in the family can fully explain. What started with whispers coming from a closet slowly turned into something much darker—late-night encounters with an unseen presence that seemed to follow her from room to room, house to house, and eventually all the way to college.
At first, it was easy to dismiss as nightmares or childhood fear. But over the years, the experiences became harder to ignore. A flashlight-like glow in the darkness. Something tugging at her ankle from beneath the bed. A shadowy figure darting out of sight the moment she looked directly at it.

Some neighborhoods carry a feeling you can’t really explain. In her part of Los Angeles, tragedy seemed woven into almost every street—murders, suicides, deadly accidents, even a plane crash that killed several people not far from where she lived. Over the years, the area developed a reputation for strange stories and unsettling experiences, but she never paid much attention to any of it. Most people saw the Victorian as a money pit. Layers of bad renovations had buried much of the home’s original character beneath decades of shortcuts and remodeling. But the deeper they dug into the house, the more it seemed determined to reveal pieces of itself that had been hidden away for generations.
Then the dreams began.
Not nightmares, but vivid glimpses into an older version of the house—warm hallways lit by gas lamps, vanished rooms, forgotten staircases, and details so specific they became impossible to explain once renovations uncovered them exactly where she had seen them.
At first, they tried to rationalize it. Old houses leave clues. People notice more than they realize. But the dreams kept revealing things no one should have known, and the Victorian slowly stopped feeling like a renovation project.
