Unit 27 was never supposed to be Renee’s home.
After months of instability, she had finally secured another townhouse in the same complex—until a last-minute “maintenance issue” forced the property manager to move her family farther down the row into a different unit instead.

From the first night in the apartment, she felt watched.
Her family had moved constantly around St. Louis, so everyone assumed the strange feeling would pass once they settled in.
