    DND Monsters: Demons Part 1

    08/06/2026 | 59 mins.
We are kicking off a deep dive into the Abyss and honestly... we don't even know where to start because the Abyss is massive and deeply unhinged. So we're doing what any reasonable lore nerds would do, we're going in challenge rating order and starting at the bottom. And the bottom of the demonic food chain is a wild and strange place to be.

This episode is all about the low CR demons, the weird funky little guys that don't get talked about enough. We're talking manes, the pitiful miserable bottom rung of demon society... dretches, which are basically just clouds of suffering with legs... quasits, the sneaky little imps of the Abyss... and more. These aren't the flashy demon lords, these aren't the ones with cool names and big campaigns built around them. These are the ones that make the Abyss feel genuinely alien and gross and wrong in a way that honestly slaps.

Sean and Jess dig into where these things come from, what they actually are in the lore, how they've changed across editions, and why the bottom tier of demonkind might just be the most interesting part of the whole hierarchy. Buckle up because it gets weird.

    DnD Monsters: Lycantrhopes

    01/06/2026 | 1h 28 mins.
Werewolves, werebears, wererats, wereravens, and the gods who fight over them. We dig into lycanthropes across the D&D multiverse and the lore is way deeper than you think. We cover Strahd's werewolf pack in Curse of Strahd and the wereraven Keepers of the Feather quietly resisting him. We get into Eberron and the Silver Flame's lycanthropic purge, the shifter genocide that followed, and the Pure Flame zealots still hunting today. We talk about the Forgotten Realms and the eternal war between Selûne and Malar over what lycanthropy was meant to be. Plus we tell you who the most famous werebear in all of D&D is. Sleep with one eye open.

    DnD: The Underdark

    25/05/2026 | 1h 16 mins.
Strap on your torches (and maybe a few extra) because this week we're descending into the Underdark, the sprawling network of caverns, tunnels, and lightless cities buried beneath the surface of the Forgotten Realms. From the drow of Menzoberranzan to the mind flayers, beholders, and the horrors lurking in the dark, the Underdark is home to some of the most iconic monsters and most brutal adventures in Dungeons & Dragons history.

We dig into the origins of the Underdark, how it evolved across D&D editions, the deadly ecosystems and societies that thrive without sunlight, and why this setting has captured the imaginations of players for decades. Whether you're a longtime Dungeon Master plotting your party's doom or a curious newcomer wondering what's down there, this episode is your guide to the deep.

Grab your darkvision and join us as we explore D&D's most dangerous underground frontier.

    DnD Locations: THE ABYSS

    18/05/2026 | 1h
The Abyss is the infinite chaotic evil plane of Dungeons & Dragons — home to demon lords, the Blood War, and 50 years of D&D lore that has grown weirder with every edition. In this episode we map out the essential reading list (from 1977's Monster Manual through 2006's Fiendish Codex I to 2018's Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes), explain the demon hierarchy from larvae and dretches up to balors and demon lords, and break down what demons actually want — which turns out to be less "conquest" and more "metaphysical infection." We tour iconic layers including Pazunia and its iron fortresses, Demogorgon's Gaping Maw, Baphomet's shifting Endless Maze, Orcus's frozen palace city of Naratyr on Thanatos, Graz'zt's deceptively hospitable Azzagrat, and the corpse-cathedrals of Zionyn where the obyrith Obox-ob broods over losing his title as the original Prince of Demons. Plus: the Blood War, the obyrith backstory, and why the Abyss can never have a real king.

DnD: Drow Dragons, Shadow Dragons, Deep Dragons and the Jaezred Chaulssin

    11/05/2026 | 1h 18 mins.
What happens when you cross a drow with a dragon? You get one of the most criminally overlooked corners of Forgotten Realms lore — and one of the wildest stories in the entire Underdark. This week on [Show Name], Sean and Jess dive deep into the Drow-Dragon: a creature born from centuries of slavery, shadow magic, and a rebellion so brutal it reshaped drow society forever.

We start with the basics — what is a Deep Dragon, why do they hate the drow they pretend to ally with, and how did the term "drow-dragon" first appear in Dragon Magazine #206 back in 1994? Then we crack open Eric L. Boyd's 2007 free web enhancement City of Wyrmshadows (yes, it's still out there, and yes, it's a goldmine) to tell the full story of Chaulssin, the City of Wyrmshadows — a drow city conquered by Clan Jaezred shadow dragons in 221 DR and held in chains for over 800 years.

From there it gets unhinged: the rise of the zekylyn half-dragons, the slave rebellion of 634 DR, the malaugrym shapeshifter infiltration, the founding of House Jaezred, and the eventual creation of the Jaezred Chaulssin — a secret patriarchal assassins' guild dedicated to tearing down Lolth's matriarchy one city at a time. We cover the destruction of Ched Nasad, the Silence of Lolth, and the shadow dragon Shimmergloom's conquest of Mithral Hall (yes, that Mithral Hall — Bruenor Battlehammer's home).

    In this episode:
What is a Deep Dragon? Lore, abilities, and shapeshifting powers
The two types of Drow-Dragon: Deep Lineage vs. Shadow Lineage
The fall of Chaulssin and the rise of the zekylyn
The Jaezred Chaulssin: D&D's most patient assassins' guild
Shimmergloom and the fall of Mithral Hall
How to use drow-dragons in your 5e campaign

Whether you're a Dungeon Master hunting for your next BBEG, a Drizzt Do'Urden fan curious about the lore behind Streams of Silver, or just here for cursed Underdark politics, this one's for you.
