Episode 41 - with Robert Carnes (again!)

    21/12/2025 | 1h 31 mins.
After a VERY long hiatus, the campfire once more called me back to chat about writing and storytelling, and I'm SO glad it did. I missed this!
And this new episode in particular is a celebration! Our returning guest, Robert Carnes, just published his BRAND NEW book, The Storymancer, through Blue Ink Press!! I was so excited to talk about the process of putting that story together, as well as how it got published, and Robert (as usual) gives us all some fantastic insight into the process. Just a delightful conversation, and I really enjoyed both of the stories we shared for this episode! Man, I gotta do more of these.

Episode 40 - with Matt Bivins

    16/03/2025 | 1h 33 mins.
An episode years in the making! I've been a fan of Matt Bivins and his MANY skills for such a long time, it was an absolute delight to finally meet him up in his neck of the woods in Chicago. I loved both this conversation AND the story that he wrote, plus his wise insight on creativity. We talked a lot about community in this episode, so get out there and FIND YOUR PEOPLE.

Episode 39 - with Josh Tierney

    16/02/2025 | 1h 48 mins.
For this episode of S'more Stories, I was joined by another delightful guest from across the northern border! Canadians are just the nicest, aren't they. Josh Tierney is an accomplished writer with works published by Viz Media, WebToons, and soon to be Wildstar Press! This was such a fun conversation and I feel like I learned SO much. Make sure you check out his new book Black Plastic when it comes out in April, and find his other works in the links below!

Episode 38 - Creative Summit with Seth McKay and Collin McHugh

    09/02/2025 | 1h 25 mins.
We're trying to get the year started off strong (even if we don't feel all that great about what's going on in the world), so we decided to head up to the mountains and WRITE.
That was my goal, at least. Our guests, Seth McKay and Collin McHugh (my brother) have their own things to work on, but the goal was simple: be creative for a weekend.
And of course, we had to do a third edition of the S'more Stories patented ONE HOUR CHALLENGE, in which we give ourselves one hour to write a story, and then immediately read it on air. It's terrifying and weirdly, a blast. So have fun with your THREE stories this episode!

Episode 37 - with Leo Mancini

    26/01/2025 | 1h 44 mins.
First episode of 2025 is done! I had a delightful and wide ranging conversation with the Chicago-based cartoonist Leo Mancini! We met last year at a zine fest we both tabled at and I was so excited to chat with and get to know Leo a little better!

About S'more Stories

S'more Stories is Colby McHugh's excuse to explore the world of storytelling through...well, stories. Each episode, a guest chooses a topic from a highly weird pool of submitted ideas, phrases, and random words to write a short -like, super short- story. And each episode, Colby tries his absolute best to keep up, writing a story about the same topic, equally short. Stories are read, conversations ensue, jokes are told, and all are welcome to tell their own S'MORE STORIES!
