We Like D&D

In our very first VIDEO episode, we share our show & tell items: a homebrew druid circle that lets you become an Ent, a book of magical rules and regulations, and a TTRPG where you use your rock collection to make a solar system. We also play a round of Fantasy Fantasy Draft, recruiting people and spells that will help us win a World Cup match, and a silly little game of 2 DMs 1 Player where there may or may not be a sub-basement full of rats.

In our final episode of the month, we share our second show & tell items, including a way to generate menu items at taverns in different parts of your fantasy world (with a roll table of boons & banes), an adventure you can run if you accidentally TPK all of your players, and a guide for running sports in D&D. Then we play a round of Fantasy Fantasy Draft, selecting celebrity teammates, spells, and magical items that will help us complete a classic fantasy task: doing taxes. In this special episode, we bring our Pop Culture Character Builds to life in a one shot inspired by the Wizard of Oz! Can the crew stay on the rails and get to all of Kelly’s encounters, like a naked man and an unhelpful mayor that sounds suspiciously like Gollum? Also in this episode: Kelly tries very hard to avoid copyright infringement, Alec tries out an Alan Rickman impression and Laurenne tries to remember to use Hunter’s Mark.

In this episode, we build some characters inspired by The Wizard of Oz (that we plan to play in our Wizard of Oz-themed actual play episode next week!). We also answer a listener question about ways to run mass combat for a final campaign battle, and discuss the pros and cons of cinematic vs mechanical combats (and what might work better for your table).
