  • Childcare Absence Calls ft. Lana & Rebecca - E5
Hi, friends!  This episode is a BIG one!  One of the main focuses of my advocacy is the lack of childcare absence laws and regulations in the United States.  Did you know that there are only THREE (yes, you read that correctly) states that require childcare facilities to call parents and caregivers when a child is absent and no alert was given?I truly believe that I should have received a call the morning of June 28th from my son's childcare facility inquiring about his absence.  The outcome could have quite possibly turned out differently for my family. My dear friends, Rebecca and Lana (a Director of a childcare facility in Pennsylvania), joined me to discuss their thoughts on the lack of regulations and laws when it comes to making phone calls after a child has not been dropped off at their provider.Resources:https://www.kidsandcars.org/laws/child-care-absenceSocial Media:Instagram:  becksbackseatpodcastFacebook Community Group:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1093510318552880/Contact Me:becksbackseat.com/contact/

  • MILEStones & a Lesson - E4
Hello, friends!  Let's take a ride into a not-so-happy birthday celebration for our pup, Miles.  What I found on our adventure was scary and triggering but we got through it, not without having to call 911 though.  Yikes! In my previous episodes, I informally introduced you to my elderly next door neighbor who is battling cancer.  Listen along as I share a tidbit of advice from him that he has been giving me for months that I deliberately ignored. This episode is on the lighter side this week but still serving you a lesson on why this podcast is here.If you want to join the Beck's Backseat to Change Podcast Community Facebook Group, you can find it here:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1093510318552880/Want to connect?  Reach out here (you may remain anonymous):becksbackseat.comor you can find me at BecksBackseatPodcast on IGResources:AndersonsAlert.orgKidsandCars.org

About Beck's Backseat to Change

We love our children and we would do anything to protect them. But what if one day you made a fateful mistake that could cost you your child’s life? You know you would never intentionally do anything to put them in harms way. You would never deliberately leave your baby strapped into their car seat, get out of your vehicle, lock the doors, and walk into your office to sit down and start your work day, knowing your entire world is in the backseat. You would never say “today looks like a good day to bypass my child’s day care provider and let them sit in the car by themselves with the windows rolled up.” I'm Laura Beck and my son, Anderson, passed away on June 28th, 2022 after my husband, Aaron, unknowingly left him in the backseat of his car while he went to work. He found our baby after it was too late, and, in turn, he took his own life due to the guilt and heartache.Beck's Backseat to Change is a podcast dedicated to raising awareness surrounding hot car deaths and near misses, as well as bringing more focus on laws that need to be put in place to ensure our little ones are kept safe.Join me on this journey where I share stories, aside from my own, from other families that have lost their child due to a hot car death and people who have experienced a near miss.Let this podcast be a resource and extra layer of precaution on how to prevent these types of tragedies from happening. If you have a story of your own experience and would like to share (anonymously if desired), please contact me by going to becksbackseat.com or message me directly on either Instagram at becksbackseatpodcast or Facebook at Beck's Backseat to Change.  Our stories are what will help bring more attention to these tragedies and show people who believe this could never happen to them, just how easily it can.
