This week on Dead Famous, we continue our journey into the darker side of celebrity with the disturbing rise and fall of former Glee star Mark Salling.

To millions of fans, Salling was best known as Noah “Puck” Puckerman — the bad-boy heartthrob on one of the biggest television shows of the late 2000s. At the height of Glee mania, the cast became global celebrities almost overnight, catapulted into a world of fame, money, adoration and intense public scrutiny.

But behind the scenes, Salling’s private life was becoming increasingly troubled. Over time, allegations surrounding his behaviour began to surface, culminating in a federal investigation after police discovered tens of thousands of indecent images and videos involving children on his electronic devices.

What followed was a scandal that stunned Hollywood and horrified fans around the world. As Salling’s career collapsed and public opinion turned sharply against him, the former television star withdrew further from public view. Then, just weeks before he was due to be sentenced after pleading guilty, he was found dead at the age of 35.

In February 2003, actress Lana Clarkson was found dead in Spector’s mansion from a gunshot wound to the mouth.
