  • Ep. 236 - Understanding AI - part 5 - A spiritual understanding and summing up the series
Send us a text “Work is essential for our spiritual progression”  This episode I finish up with the Understanding AI series.  First talking about Elder David A. Bednar’s talk “Things as they really are, 2.0” from 2024.  Where Elder Bednar reminds us of our moral agency to admonish us not to become objects but that we are agents.  I share his reminder of the divine attribute of creating and working to help us in our becoming.  At the end I share 10 things ChatGPT came up with to use AI in my everyday life - that will help assist but not take away my agency.  I think my favorite is that I can give Chat a list of things in my fridge and pantry and it will suggest some meals to make.  This has been a helpful exploration for me as I have learned just a little bit more how LLMs can be a tool for my good. For show notes go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep236 I would love to hear from you! You can reach me at [email protected] or dm @findingthefloor on instagram. Thanks for listening!!Thanks to Seth Johnson for my intro and outro original music. I love it so much!

  • Ep. 235 - Understanding AI part 4 - AI as a Co-worker, tutor and coach
Send us a text “Will AI take over my job?”  In part 4 of the Understanding Artificial Intelligence series we explore AI as a Co-worker, Tutor and Coach.  All ideas coming from the book by Ethan Mollick, Co-Intelligence - Living and working with AI.  I share how Mollick makes the point that our jobs are made up of different tasks and that AI might be able to help us with the more tedious parts of our tasks and then we can do more of the creative tasks or tasks that we enjoy doing.  I share two different methods that Ethan Mollick mentions in his book regarding AI as a co-worker, the centaur or the cyborg. Then I share how AI might help us with education in a more tutoring role.  Mollick predicts that AI might be able to take over some of the passive roles of education while our teachers are involved in engaging students actively in the classroom.  And lastly how the LLMs might be able to assist us in our expertise training as a coach.  Adding an additional layer of feedback as we go from formal education to on the job training.  For transcripts and sources got to www.findingthefloor.com/ep235 I would love to hear from you! • Ep. 234 Understanding AI - part 3 - AI as a creative tool
Send us a text “[Artificial Intelligences] AI are connection machines - which is why they can seem so creative.”  As part 3 of learning more about AI we explore what it can do as a creative tool.  I begin by giving you a little update on my life - and some biggish news for me.  I then spend the rest of the time talking about AI as a creative tool.  I mention how good ChatGPT is at making connections and the strengths it has in this department.  I also mention some of the drawbacks when using Chat in this way.  I then share the process I went through using chat to help me design and plan the front yard garden beds so they go from the deer’s salad bar to a beautiful landscape that is deer resistant.  It was so fun and I am excited to remake my front landscape.  For show notes, transcripts and sources go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep234 I would love to hear from you! I begin by sharing the idea of the paper clip theory suggested by a philosopher.  The worry that AI could either create the apocalypse or our salvation. Then I go through each of the principles Mollick suggests as a way to guide us in our use of  AI.     For show notes go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep233I would love to hear from you! • Ep. 232 Reflecting on the Michigan LDS Church shooting and fire
Send us a text  “I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.”  This week I share some of my thoughts after the tragic church shooting and fire that took place in Grand Blanc, Michigan. I mention that I am trying to choose faith not fear as a reaction to what happened.  I talk about 3 stories from the scriptures to look at other situations where people have been under a threat of some kind if they were to worship or pray.  I talk of the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, Daniel in the Lion’s Den and Alma. I remind you, that just like the scripture says, God is with us in the hard and tragic events.   I then invite all of us to do good and also to look for the good that is happening around us.   I would love to hear from you!
