Ep. 244 Make your own weather

    16/1/2026 | 31 mins.

Send us a text  “There is space between stimulus and response.”  In this week’s podcast, I share a reminder of the book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey.  I mentioned making our own weather, so we are not so affected by other people's moods or reactions.  I remind you that there is a space between stimulus and response where we have a choice. I tell us the story of the Golden goose, and I clarify the difference between the circle of influence and your circle of concern.  Then touch on the first habit of being proactive.  Then leave you with a challenge to go and review this book, or my podcasts (ep. 95-104) as you think about your becoming in 2026. For show notes and transcripts go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep244 I would love to hear from you! Ep. 243 - Keeping the end in mind as we look ahead to 2026

    09/1/2026 | 31 mins.

Send us a text“Keep the end in mind.”  Happy New Year and hello 2026.  This episode I share a handful of ideas as we look toward more becoming in 2026.  I mention two funerals I went to over the break and how they influenced me to think more about  how I want to become.  Which then reminded me of the second habit from Steven Covey’s book, 7 Habits for Highly Effective People which says “to begin with the end in mind.”I mentioned things I am grateful for in my life as well as this past year.  I give a few ideas to change your thoughts and to look at things in a new way.  As I finished I talk of a quick insight about the word, should.  Looking forward to a fun year! For show notes and transcripts go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep243 I would love to hear from you! Ep. 242 - Hope in Christmas Lyrics - "This Little Babe"

    19/12/2025 | 27 mins.

Send us a text “...foil thy foes with joy”  In this last episode for the Christmas season, I share about a song that I learned this year.  The song, This Little Babe, was written by a Jesuit Priest in the late 1500s and then put to music in the 20th century.  The song is like a battle cry to overcome Satan which comes in the unexpected form of a baby.  I share each verse of the song and how we can think about it in relation to the Christmas season.  I especially love the quote by E.T. Sullivan about How God does his work.  I am super grateful that I learned about this song and hope you enjoy it as well.  I will see you in 2026!Listen to This Little BabeFor show notes and transcripts go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep242 I would love to hear from you! Ep. 241 - Hope in Simplicity - letting go of a "perfect Christmas"

    12/12/2025 | 27 mins.

Send us a text “What do you value most about the holiday?” In this podcast I will share some ideas on how to simplify Christmas and let go of the “perfect Christmas.”  I share the idea of taking a moment to really reflect on what you love the most about the season and then go all in on that.  Then share a few examples of different ways to simplify decorations, menu, traditions and gifts.   Rethinking a quote: there is no way to have a perfect Christmas but a million ways to have a good one!  For show notes and sources go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep241 I would love to hear from you! Ep. 240 Hope in the waiting - the advent

    05/12/2025 | 31 mins.

Send us a text“To hope in God means to wait with patient expectation, trusting that he will fulfill his promises.”  This week I explore hope a little more.  Hope in the waiting as we prepare for the coming of Christmas or the coming of our Savior.  As we prepare for Christmas, the advent can help us get spiritually focused which then can help us find just the right things and events that can make our Christmas waiting meaningful.  I talk about the advent, its purpose and then share a few readings, things to consider about the reading and a reflection question to ponder on the topic of hope from the Old and New Testament. For show notes www.findingthefloor.com/ep240 I would love to hear from you!
