  • My changing life - looking back and forward
Send us a text “… this dual process coping seems to be the way of midlife.”  I hope summer is going well for you all.  In this episode I share that my summer is feeling weird and all the change that I have been coping with.  This summer has felt different. I share how I have been looking back, missing the simple summers at the pool when my kids were younger.   I mention that redoing my daughter's room has been bringing up lots of nostalgic memories.  I am also excited for my children to leave the nest but it is such a bittersweet time.  I also share how our trip to the Cleveland Natural History museum with its new renovation was a metaphor to what I have been feeling as we appreciated the new but were looking for all the familiar past things we loved about the museum.   I finish with a quote from an article that describes my feelings quite well, both the mourning and the reinvention.  Looking back and also looking forward.  For show notes go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep224I would love to hear from you! • Our Universal Epic Adventure
Send us a text“So glad that I made it happen!”  In this episode I share a bit about our vacation to the Universal resort and also their new park Epic.  I was able to have all of my family together for the first time in 2 years.  It was the first time to take a vacation with all the new in-laws as well.  Some highlights - everyone getting along, the wonderful food and the new park Epic is just a beautiful place.  I talk about how I was so grateful to have a friend who was able to help me through the overwhelm of figuring out tickets and how to navigate the park.   It definitely was a fun start to our summer! For show notes come by www.findingthefloor.com/ep223 I would love to hear from you! • Rethinking stories from our past
Send us a text “How does my mess become my message?”  How I love a good story!  After finishing a new release from one of my favorite authors, Katherine Center, I share the importance of stories and learning to revisit our own stories. Inspired by a talk given by the Dean of Education of Brigham Young University, Sarah K. Clark, Jesus the Master Teacher, given May 20,2025.  I tell you about my own story from high school that ended up being a pivotal moment for me and how I have learned to revisit that story now.   Like Sarah K. Clark, I  invite  you to involve Christ into your story and rewrite how you see your old stories and how they frame the way you think about your life.    For show notes go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep222I would love to hear from you! • Taking time to rest and the benefits of a nap
Send us a text“Cozy up to these nap benefits.”  As summer begins I use this episode to talk a little about rest and napping.  I have enjoyed this extra time to rest after surgery and am a little reluctant to get super busy again.  I think resting has been good for me.  I share some great benefits of a short nap in the afternoon.  I also mention information from a few articles that describe just the right way to nap to get the most benefits.  I invite you to try out resting a little more during the summer.  For shownotes go to www.findingthefloor.com/ep221 I would love to hear from you!
