Backstage at Damnation Festival 2025, Singer/guitarist Matt King of Texas screamo-come-black-metal trio Portrayal of Guilt talks touring with Deafheaven, his band's place in the world and their forthcoming new album, as well as the learning curve of running Portrayal of Guilt Records.

I sat down with the main brain behind the mysterious Portuguese entity that is Gaerea at Damnation Festival to discuss the band's growth beyond traditional black metal, the influence of Linkin Park, how Sleep Token changed the game, and the forthcoming new record 'Loss'.

Matt and Carl are two of the three guitarists and both of the graphic designers in the ranks of the Sydney post-rock group We Lost The Sea.
