What a weekend for New Zealand sport — the All Blacks beat the Springboks at Ellis Park, the Warriors are NUMBER ONE in the NRL, and the NPC has produced one of the great Ranfurly Shield stories.
Jason Davis is joined by rugby expert Quentin Hill for this week’s ShedLife Sport, starting with the All Blacks’ outstanding 33–16 victory over South Africa at Ellis Park.
Jason and Quentin both picked a tight All Blacks win last week — but neither expected a margin like this.
They break down the key moments that turned the Test, the players who stood up under pressure, where the All Blacks found an edge against the Springboks and what still needs work despite an impressive victory.
What did the All Blacks get right?
Who were the difference-makers?
Was 33–16 a true reflection of the game?
And what should we expect when the two great rivals meet again in Cape Town?
Jason and Quentin also put their score predictions on the line for Test two.
Then it’s over to rugby league — and Jason is understandably pumped.
The Warriors are sitting NUMBER ONE in the NRL.
After beating South Sydney 45–26, the Warriors finished Round 25 on top of the ladder and have put themselves right in the hunt for the minor premiership.
So the question has changed.
It’s no longer just: Can the Warriors make the finals?
It’s now: Can the Warriors win the whole thing?
The boys talk about the belief building around this Warriors side, what being number one means heading towards the finals and whether Kiwi fans are finally allowed to say:
“This is our year.”
Then it’s back to the 15-man game for the latest Bunnings NPC action.
Northland produced one of the great provincial rugby stories by winning the Ranfurly Shield for the first time in 48 years, while Waikato continued their strong campaign with a convincing 45–12 victory over Counties Manukau.
Jason and Quentin look at the big NPC results, where Waikato sit in the championship picture and make their picks for the coming round.
