TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:
Psalm 113:4–6
The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens! [5] Who is like the LORD our God, who is seated on high, [6] who looks far down on the heavens and the earth? (ESV)
SUMMARY
We ground our evening mindset in Psalm 113 and let it expand our view of who God is. We move from admiration of human legacy to awe at the daily gift of God’s presence made possible through Jesus Christ.

• The invitation to God’s presence as greater than any human encounter

The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. [6] He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth. [7] He will drink from the brook by the way; therefore he will lift up his head. (ESV)
SUMMARY
We read Psalm 110:5–7 and sit with its stark picture of judgment day, where God confronts evil with total authority. We also explain why that hard language can be real comfort when you are stuck with injustices you cannot fix.

My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being! [2] Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! [3] I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. [4] For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. (ESV)
SUMMARY
We read Psalm 108:1–4 and sit with David’s steady joy as he chooses praise with his whole being. We end with a simple practice for bedtime gratitude and a prayer to help us proclaim God’s love and faithfulness in everyday places.
