Through The Garden Gate

We start as always with George’s garden question, this week about lawn mowers and when they were invented.

Tonight we have a wildlife expert which you would think has nothing to do with gardening but in my opinion the two are very closely linked and the more natural we can make our gardens the better.

It’s interesting to think about what plant you need to atract a certain insect and how specific those insect can be.

Let’s hope his Birdfoot trefoil attracts the small blue butterflies he want to see on his garden, also keep an eye out for Painted lady butterflies as it’s expected to be a good year for them.

George gave us his weekly garden question this week all about daisys and the scores are Marc 9 Jamie 5 and George 4 (George gets a point if Marc and Jamie get it wrong)

We even got a bonus guest in Marc’s mum popping on to tell us all about her days in the circus 🎪

Marc has always known he wanted to be a gardener it just took a while to get there but when he found his dream job he felt like he had hit the jackpot!

Tonight we had the horticultural lifer Chris Wiley who has been gardening since the age of 8 and even asked for a greenhouse as a present.

Chris has had such a fantastic career so far from working in a nursery to releasing an amazing new sweet pea variety which won Best plant of the Year 2022 at @bbcgwlive

Now Chris’s latest venture is @hortiaichris which Chris has poured all of his knowledge and other experts to create a horticultural specific AI you can try this for free for the first month if you want to try it out.

Chris also has a sustainable plant store online for all your eco friend gardening needs.

Oh and did we mention he is a massive galanthophile!
