EP186 Yowies, Hauntings, Black Magic and Cultural Lore: Jason's Journey Beyond the Veil

    04/06/2026 | 1h 47 mins.
Today's episode is a real treat! We're joined by Jason Lord, a proud Arrernte man from central Australia. Boxing saved him from a difficult path when he was a child and set him on a course to become a champion and mentor for at-risk youth. He became an Australian boxing champion in his youth, and he now changes lives for the better with the boxing program he runs for young people and for people about to be released from prison. Jason’s gifts go beyond the physical — he sees into the world beyond the veil, and today he’s sharing some of his most spine-tingling stories, from a yowie sighting to haunted highways, portals, black magic, and ancient indigenous lore. EP185 Hickeys Falls Revisited Anniversary Edition

    23/05/2026 | 2h 27 mins.
I’ve got a very special show for you today and I'm so excited to share it with you! Six years ago, almost to the day, I did an interview that went on to become one of the best-known, if not the best known, yowie sighting of all time. Yes, I’m talking about Hickeys Falls. It’s the one story that people always bring up to me when they mention their favourite yowie sightings. Many people have also told me that it was this story that made them believers in the existence of yowies. Many people were moved by not just the sincerity of the witness but also the residual fear clearly audible in her voice ten years after the event. With all of that in mind and with the sixth anniversary at the end of this month, I thought I’d reach out to the Hickeys Falls witness and see if she was up for a catch up chat. And thankfully, she was. So, today Yowie Central proudly presents the re-mastered original interview with the hour-long catch up chat I had with the courageous and articulate Hickeys Falls witness. For those not familiar with Hickeys Falls, it’s located in NSW at the southern end of the notoriously spooky Pilliga State Forest. It’s a small but stunningly beautiful waterfall surrounded by cliffs that form a natural amphitheatre, located just off the Newell Hwy. There’s a rest stop there, where you can park or stay the night or have a picnic and swim in the waterholes at the bottom of the falls. If you dare... Hosted on Acast. EP184 High Strangeness in William Creek SA 2023

    09/05/2026 | 48 mins.
We’re leaning into the kooky and spooky today as we head to the tiny township of William Creek SA, population about 20, in an area the local first nations people call Arabana country. It’s gibber plain around there – red soil, arid, desert landscapes covered in a layer of pebbles and rocks. Pete, originally from Alice Springs, took a job working at the local pub about three years ago. He had his first day off coming up, so asked a local elder where to go for a nice walk. The elder suggested a local water hole, so Pete took off for the waterhole the next day. Unfortunately, Pete got a bit lost, and what happened next was very strange, to say the least. We'll let him tell you the story. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Kevin and Phoebe have so much to share with you. To quote Kevin, “As I spun around, in the beam of the torch about 30 feet from me was this huge, ginger yowie!” And that’s just one moment in a long list of experiences... Hosted on Acast.
