- The world of Podcasts is changing, and I’m not sure I want this podcast to be part of that new world. But don’t delete this just yet.
BBC television now broadcasts the recording of its podcasts, such as the Uncloaked series that follows the Traitors TV show.
Netflix has bought up some big names in Podcasting, because for them it’s relatively cheap.
And there are just SO many podcasts out there, it’s hard to keep one going with the quality that’s now expected.
Particularly since almost every podcast is now on video.
When I started podcasting, exactly 20 years ago this year with SeaKayakPodcasts.com, the video element would be unthinkable. YouTube was still small; now it’s the biggest player in Podcasting. Spotify is close behind.
And almost every celebrity has their own podcast. They get the listeners. And as a consequence they get the advertisers. I don’t mind about either, none of my podcasts have ever taken advertising, and I know this is a niche listen. But it’s getting harder to commit the time to it and still run the YouTube channel.
I have to pick, and I’ve picked the YouTube. Video has killed the radio star.
I don’t watch podcasts, I listen to them. That’s how I feel they work best, on a long drive or while walking the dog. I can’t commit to something I don’t watch or believe in.
If some of my future videos lend themselves to becoming audio podcasts I will release them as such, so please don’t delete this from your podcast player just yet. But don’t hold your breath for exciting new guests.

Buy The Midlife Cyclist on Amazon (Amazon affiliate) - Dr Clarkson is an NHS cardiologist at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Our previous interview video had more than a million views.
This follow-up video podcast, a year later, has two parts. In the first, Dr Clarkson outlines how we should all assess our own cardiac risks and explains more about the decision whether or not to take the drugs statins.
The second part is about returning to exercise after a heart attack or being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation.
This full interview is available as a video.
