#BHN Nicola Willis on HYEFU | Victims of Lake Ellis financial redress| Seymour on "criminal" IRD
The Treasury's half-year economic and fiscal update is universally being described as bad news, Finance Minister Nicola Willis spoke to Corin Dann on RNZ this morning starting with if tax cuts were the right thing to do.
David Seymour reflects on the year in Government and criminal entities that are taking people's money like IRD. He also bloviates on how governments he will be involved in will spend "less and less"
The people tortured while children in the Lake Alice psychiatric hospital will receive a $150,000 redress payment or can request an independent arbiter make an individual assessment. The minister responsible Erica Stanford made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon, revealing the government had set aside up to $22.68 million for the redress scheme

#BHN Chloe Swarbrick LIVE at 9pm | Craig Renney LIVE at 9.45pm | HYEFU a nightmare
LIVE at 9pm 'fan fave' Chloe Swarbrick joins us to talk the year in politics which on many levels was a tough one for the Greens, what's to come in 2025 and maybe specifically what happened today when Nicola Willis opened the books at HYEFU
Once we have chatted with Chloe, CTU economist Craig Renney joins us to talk specifically HYEFU and what the books show, along with what it means for NZ moving forward
The government's books are set to remain deeply in the red for the near term as a big dent in the tax take and higher expenses deliver continued budget deficits. Under the new measure the deficits for the next three years would rise less than forecast in the May budget and see a surplus posted in 2027/28. Using the established measure the deficits would rise more than expected in the budget and a surplus was not expected in the forecast period to 2028/29.

#BHN Kieran McAnulty LIVE at 9pm | More bad news for #NickyNoBoats | Another broken promise
In our last week of live shows for this year, fan favourite Kieran McAnulty joins us LIVE at 9pm to look back on the year, maybe find a highlight, and see where to from here for the opposition
More bad news for #NickyNoBoats as we learn today from a 3News exclusive that the government has received official advice that one of our current ferries will not be useable up until the 2029 deadline the government has said that the new (unknown, not purchased and not identified) ferries will get to NZ. In fact one of the ferries, due to wharf redevelopment, will only be able to be used until the end of next year...four years earlier than their announced lifespan.
Another broken promise from this government who said pre-election that they would provide 10,000 public EV chargers by 2030...but now "Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s Government has so far delivered less than half the cash and chargers" that they need to to stay on track for the 10,000 target
