Daily Bible Reading

The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5–7 is where Jesus teaches us what life in the kingdom of heaven looks like. Jesus presses past outward religion and exposes the heart, calling His people to a righteousness rooted in humility, dependence, mercy, and trust in the Father. Above all, this sermon points us to Christ Himself, the true King and firm foundation on whom we must build our lives.

Jesus cleanses the unclean, heals the sick, calms the storm, casts out demons, forgives sins, calls Levi from the tax booth, and eats with sinners. These stories reveal that Jesus is not merely a teacher or miracle worker, but the promised King who brings the power of God’s kingdom near. He has authority over sickness, creation, demons, religious traditions, and even sin itself, yet He uses that authority to draw near to the broken, the guilty, the outsider, and the needy. The invitation is simple and searching: come to Jesus honestly, receive His mercy, and follow Him as Lord.
