Lisa’s Cervical Cerclage + Navigating Medical Trauma
In this episode, Lisa opens up about the cervical cerclage—or “stitch”—she received at 24 weeks pregnant to help prevent preterm labor. While the procedure was medically “simple” and technically successful, the emotional experience left her feeling raw, vulnerable, and deeply shaken. Lisa shares her story to help you feel more empowered, choice-full, and autonomous—no matter what your pregnancy journey looks like. She talks about: - What a cervical cerclage is, and what’s considered normal (and not) for a cervix - How she’s making peace with a medical-intervention-heavy pregnancy - How she stayed connected to herself during moments of dissociation - The challenge of maintaining autonomy when you're treated as just a “patient” The Truthiest Life on Instagram: @thetruthiestlife Host: @lisahayim To support TTL, subscribe, follow, or share episodes with family and friends! Path to Pregnancy: Secondary Infertility, Luteal Phase Defect, and Ditching “Natural”
After a 14-month surprise infertility battle, Lisa is emerging from what she calls the “infertility underworld” to share her path to pregnancy. Getting pregnant with her first child was effortless, but this time, she felt like a science project. Determined to solve her fertility challenges naturally, she spent months trying to “fix” things on her own—only to realize that she needed outside help. Despite her initial resistance to fertility treatments, she ultimately turned to medical professionals. However, finding the right team was not easy. The so-called “best and top” specialists often made her feel broken rather than supported. Through trial and error, she learned that pregnancy and birth are a time to surround yourself with people who make you feel whole, not like a problem to be solved. For those still navigating infertility’s “underworld,” Lisa sees and is rooting for you! In this episode, Lisa covers: - Her journey to getting pregnant with her second child - The gap in fertility support—why there’s little guidance for women before resorting to costly medical treatments - Maternal preoccupation—how can modern, working women balance careers when fertility planning takes over their lives? - “You’ve got time!”—is this reassuring or misleading? Why women deserve real education about their individual fertility - Technology & fertility tracking—the best high-tech and low-cost options for understanding cycles and hormones The Truthiest Life on Instagram: @thetruthiestlife Host: @lisahayim To support TTL, subscribe, follow, or share episodes with family and friends! Toddler Tips: Parenting Swaps to Go From Chaos to Calm
At around 2 years old, I realized my daughter was no longer a baby. Melt downs without reason, less naps for “me time”, and a tiny brain that was sucking in all of its surroundings – I felt lost and exhausted and overwhelmed by the fact that I now had a very impressionable tiny human. Fortunately this was the summer I took off all work and used this time to explore, read, learn, and listen to all sorts of philosophies. Turns out, all I was missing was TOOLS and a philosophy that suits me. I now find toddler-parenting (exhausting at times of course!!), but also so joyful, cool, empowering - and dare I say healing. In this episode I share 14 changes I’ve made that have really helped the entire house be happier and emotionally healthier. I hope you enjoy :) Follow Janet Lansbury: Website: janetlansbury.com Podcast: Respectful Parenting: Janet Lansbury Unruffled Book: A Guide to Respectful Parenting Hunt Gather Parent Mind Body Mentorship (March 2024) Instagram: The Truthiest Life on Instagram @thetruthiestlife Host @lisahayim To support TTL, subscribe, follow, or share episodes with family and friends!
