Wow, what a gift to share this conversation with the legendary Sanyu Estelle, aka The Word Witch! Sanyu is writing an incredible book called "The Cultural Origins of Tarot," and needs our help and support to truly be able to dive in and do the extent of research on it that the book deserves! Click here to support Sanyu's Indiegogo campaign for the book (which ends on August 18th!) PS, if you're listening to this after the deadline to contribute to the campaign, no worries! Her work revolves around the subjects of ontology, sociology, history, and criminology as she explores the intersection of culture, politics, and spirituality. With 11+ years as a professional reader and existential advisor, she is known for giving clients "the reading they need, not (necessarily) the reading they want."Currently completing her first full-length book, "The Cultural Roots of Tarot" (Red Wheel/Weiser, Fall 2026), Sanyu examines the deck's multicultural origins through rigorous and groundbreaking historical research. Known as "The Word Witch" due to her profound love for etymology and philology, she combines 15+ years of Daoist practice and 10+ years in Ifa tradition with academic grounding to offer perspectives that honor ancestral wisdom, cosmic coherence and that challenge colonial narratives.******Transcript can be found on Spotify!SANYU'S LINKS:Website: https://www.sanyuestelle.com  Tarot Research Campaign: https://bit.ly/TarotsRoots  Instagram/Threads/TikTok/YouTube: @sanyuestelle  Ways to contribute to Sanyu outside of the Indiegogo campaign:Venmo: @Sanyu-EstelleSquare: $Sanyu PayPal: [email protected] Zelle: [email protected]'S LINKS:Book an August/September Reading with Lindsay here!Got Q's for Lindsay to answer on the podcast and beyond? • 294. MONTHLY MEDICINE: August is Catapult
Finally -- after what has felt like forever -- August gets things moving, flowing, and clicking again. The theme of this month is Catapult for a reason. This isn't a chaotic, frantic, frightening launch into the void. We have been preparing for this for a long time, a time when we finally get some clarity, or are able to move the needle in some longed-for way. The "catapult" in question is a sacred, measured, and joyful collaboration with the muses, a serve and return that we've been waiting for. The key for this month? To trust that you are actually ready to receive this. You're ready to move. You're ready to commit. You're more ready to move than you might believe. You have everything you need to do this. Our Soul Tarot Reading for AugustCard for the month ahead: Page of SwordsHow the month will feel to us: Knight of Swords and The SunHow to best work with the energy of the month ahead: The DevilDeepest lesson of the month ahead: Page of WandsWhat we’re being invited to pay attention to most: JusticeMessage from Spirit — Four of Cups and The Magician******Transcript can be found on Spotify!LINKS:Got Q's for Lindsay to answer on the podcast and beyond? • 293. MONTHLY MEDICINE: July is Asking for What You Need
The theme for this month is Asking for What You Need. What is it that you need right now? How can you ask for it (to the degree that you're able to)? July wants to remind you that even the willingness to connect with what we need and desire is a spell. Writing it, praying for it, feeling it, and communicating that longing is all part of the process of tuning in with those needs. This is a watery, swirly, emotional month. It's going to bring us into some old stuff, some outdated debris -- once we face it, we can actually clear it and make way for something new. It's not really going to feel like it in an acute sense, but this month really is building to something important -- it is preparing us for a time of change and necessarily evolution. Coming home to who we are and what we need in this season of life -- and asking for it -- is the big work that lies ahead for all of us this month. Our Soul Tarot Reading for JulyCard for the month ahead: King of CupsHow the month will feel to us: Ace of WandsHow to best work with the energy of the month ahead: Nine of Pentacles RxDeepest lesson of the month ahead: Six of SwordsBiggest helper for the month ahead: Page of WandsWhat we’re being invited to pay attention to most: Nine of Swords Rx******Transcript can be found on Spotify!LINKS:I will be teaching a workshop that I am so excited about on Saturday, July 12 from 2-4pm PST, called Your Life Path Card, which comes with a subscription to Three of Cups, my Soul Tarot community connection space!
