  • 75 - Whole Body Health with Tamzyn Murphy, RD.
    Hello Humans! Welcome to the 75th show housed in “The Human Theatre”. If you’re feeling overwhelmed in trying to navigate your way through your own health and healing journey; uncertain of what information to believe or not, not knowing who to trust and where to turn to…this episode is for you! Recently, I have collaborated with Nutrition Network in building a new, science-backed, dietician & coach-led, physician-guided 12-week online program designed to help you reclaim your birthright to Whole Body Health, utilising a root-cause approach to sustainable health and wellness. And to dive deep into the topic of Whole Body Health, I am bringing onto the show Tamzyn Murphy. Tamzyn is a registered dietitian, science writer and editor and nutrition educator, who holds a special interest and expertise in Ketogenic Diets (KD) and Therapeutic Carbohydrate Restriction (TCR) - particularly pertaining to mental and gut health. She also has a Masters Degree in Physiology, which focused on TCR in Type 2 Diabetes, under the supervision of Prof Tim Noakes. She currently holds the role of Senior Editorial Manager, Content Editor and Creator, as well as Contributing Lecturer, at Nutrition Network, the global leader in TCR training for healthcare professionals. As a science writer, author and editor, Tamzyn has contributed to various publications - most recently - the textbook, Ketogenic: The Science of Therapeutic Carbohydrate Restriction in Human Health. She has also co-authored, contributed to and edited other books (including Sugar Free and Eat Right Revolution), articles (including as a health magazine editor), and peer-reviewed publications, on the topic of nutrition and TCR. She is passionate about improving health and quality of life for all, particularly in her own country. To give back to the community, she has volunteered at NPO's, including serving on the Board of Directors of Eat Better South Africa, a community-based outreach program that implements nutritional education in lower socioeconomic status communities, and giving nutrition advice to The Noakes Foundation.   • 74 - Hypothalamic Amenorrhea, Eating Disorder Recovery, the Pressures of Body Expectations & More with Olivia Geraci.
    Hello Humans! Welcome to the 74th Show housed in “The Human Theatre”. The menstrual cycle is considered a vital sign, just like our temperature, blood pressure and pulse, and any change or irregularity in the menstrual cycle is a symptom that should not be ignored. In fact, the menstrual cycle is kind of like our very own built-in bio-feedback tool that lets us know how we are doing. While there are other conditions, such as PCOS, that result in irregular or missing periods, infertility and an ovulation, today’s episode highlights one condition that is actually really close-to-home and unfortunately increasingly common, and that is Hypothalamic Amenorrhea.At the time of this recording, it is said that 17.4 million women have HA worldwide, and HA accounts for 1/3 of cases of secondary amenorrhea in women of reproductive age. Whether or not HA applies to you, this episode, and conversations like these, are undeniably important because unfortunately, HA is ever-increasing in prevalence.
