How To Find Your Personal Style in 2026 (Without Generic Dated 'Rules')

    12/03/2026 | 27 mins.
In this episode, we’re throwing out the tired, generic style advice that’s been making women feel like they’re getting it “wrong” for years. You don’t need another list of “must-haves”, body shape diagrams, or colour rules – you need to start asking one powerful question:

    “Is this me?”

    Not:

    Does this flatter my figure?

Is this the right colour for my undertone?

Is this on trend for my age?

Those questions are rooted in shame, judgment and external rules. This conversation is about coming back to you.

In this episode, I talk about:

Why generic style rules are failing you (and why they feel so flat and boring)

The problem with shame-based advice like “does this flatter me?”

Replacing “Is this flattering?” with “Is this me?” as your core style filter

How your current wardrobe is already full of clues about your true style

What your home, decor and environment reveal about what you’re genuinely drawn to

How your upbringing, music, culture and memories quietly shape your taste

Why we’ve never been taught to trust our instincts with style – and how to change that

A simple process to start decoding your personal style from what you already own

    You’ll learn:

How to spot the pieces you actually love versus the ones you “should” wear

How to use your wardrobe, your home and even your Pinterest saves as a style mood board

How to stop feeling like you’re “failing” at style and start feeling at home in your clothes

Practical questions to ask yourself when you try something on so you know instantly if it’s you

    Try this after you listen:

Go to your wardrobe and pull out the 5 things you wear on repeat

Ask: What do these have in common? Shape, colour, fabric, mood?

Then walk around your home and notice the same patterns in your decor

Start building your outfits from those clues – not from someone else’s rulebook

If you’re ready to stop outsourcing your style to strangers on the internet and start trusting your own instincts, this episode is for you.

How to Declutter Your Wardrobe and Reset your Style this Spring

    04/03/2026 | 25 mins.
Reframe how you think and feel about decluttering your wardrobe—with zero guilt, and a lot more you.

In this episode of The Style Stories Podcast, I’m breaking up with the outdated rule: “If you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it.” That tiny sentence has caused more anxiety, shame, and decision-paralysis than almost anything else in your wardrobe. Instead, I walk you through a fresh, kinder, more intelligent way to edit your clothes so your wardrobe reflects who you are now—not a past version of you.

    We dive into:

Why you’re not wearing so many of the clothes you own (and it’s not because you’re lazy or bad with style)

The TWO key questions to ask yourself instead of “Have I worn this in a year?”

How to work out whether something still feels like you today

How to spot where your wardrobe is unbalanced (workwear, going-out, occasion pieces, everyday “in-between” outfits)

Why chasing a perfect 10-piece capsule can actually block your personal style

How to start listening to your gut so getting dressed feels easier, lighter, and more you

If you’re ready to stop feeling guilty every time you open your wardrobe and start making calm, confident decisions about what stays and what goes, this episode is for you.

Are You Ever “Too Old” for Fashion? The Real Question to Ask Yourself

    26/02/2026 | 33 mins.
    Shownotes:
This week, I’m diving into a fascinating (and honestly, frustrating) new survey from Age Without Limits, which asked 4,000 people about fashion and ageing. Shockingly, two-thirds said they believe you shouldn’t wear fashionable clothes past a certain age.

Why do we keep putting limits on something that should bring us joy? One of the questions I hear most often from my clients is, “Am I too old for this?” — and it always breaks my heart. The real question isn’t “Am I too old?” It’s “Is this me?”

    In this episode, I’ll explore:

The myth of being “too old” for fashion

Why a great outfit has nothing to do with age and everything to do with self-expression

Style muses who prove timeless fashion has no expiry date

How to build a wardrobe that makes you feel like you — confident, current, and completely authentic

It’s time to forget the “shoulds,” wear what feels good, and rediscover the freedom that comes from dressing for yourself.

Subscribe to my Substack newsletter where I share more thoughts on this topic, plus outfit recommendations and style inspiration to help you feel amazing at every age.
