    Ep. 25 - Alcohol, Anxiety & Living a Substance-Free Life

    10/09/2026 | 1h 6 mins.
Please note: This episode was originally published in August 2023. I switched podcast hosting platforms and had to re-upload past episodes, so some links, resources, or offers mentioned in this episode may no longer be active or available.
It’s been 130 days since I decided to remove alcohol from my life. I had been thinking about it for a while, and although I no longer have a “problem” with it, it wasn’t serving me physically, mentally or spiritually. I actually felt like it was holding me back from all that I could do and be. I also grew up watching somebody I love very much struggle with alcohol, and because of that, a part of me always knew I didn’t want alcohol in my life, even just casually.
If you’re starting to evaluate your relationship with alcohol or there’s someone in your life that you would like to learn more about how you could support them, this episode is for you!
Today, I am joined by my amazing colleague Dr. Arianna, a trauma-informed functional health consultant with a specialization in depression, anxiety, and substance use disorder, who shares her inspiring journey of substance abuse and recovery.
Arianna and I talk about our personal experiences with substance abuse, the impact of alcohol on gut and mental health, our thoughts on moderate alcohol consumption, overcoming fear of judgment, the hard decisions we have had to make to heal, trusting yourself, letting go of regret, the philosophy behind intuitive sobriety, microdosing, emotional regulation strategies to process and move past any lingering hurt or trauma, practical tools and suggestions for leading a healthier, substance-free life, and so much more!
Warning: This episode discusses topics surrounding suicide, substance abuse, drugsand alcohol.

Ep. 24 - Overcoming Anxiety & Trauma with Plant Medicine

    06/09/2026 | 1h 21 mins.

Lauren spent almost her whole life in denial that she had anxiety. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 26 years old, and this diagnosis became the catalyst for change in the rest of her life.
She turned her pain into purpose, transitioning from a career in finance to becoming a holistic nutritionist and a master mindset coach with a specialization in breast cancer.
As Lauren embarked on her personal healing journey, addressing both physical and mental health, she found herself drawn to plant medicines like psilocybin mushrooms and ayahuasca, which became instrumental in overcoming her own mental health struggles. Today, she leads women’s mushroom retreats and is a certified plant medicine integration coach.
In this episode, Lauren and I chat about her realization of living with anxiety for years, her journey of recovering from breast cancer, the profound impact of ayahuasca and plant medicine, recognizing and shifting unconscious patterns, the concept of our bodies keeping score, somatic work, the power of therapy, dissociation, mindfulness practices, listening to our bodies, building a solid foundation for change, and the importance of supporting the physical body when dealing with an anxiety disorder. We also discuss the importance of emotional and mental support in the healing process.

This is part of a five-part series where I walk you through all the deep-rooted causative factors contributing to an anxiety disorder and what it’s really going to take to permanently kick it to the curb! #byeeee
Today, we’re wrapping up our conversation on transforming your mental health with eight simple and cost-effective (some totally free) lifestyle choices. My controversial (probably) opinion is: don’t complain about how expensive it is to get support if you aren’t even doing the free things!
In this episode, I chat about caffeine, a big decision I made in my personal life, my nutrition practice, what I had to do to eliminate my anxiety disorder even when money was super tight, how restricting calories is terrible for your hormones and anxiety, what to do about your loosey-goosey boundaries, and so much more!

Ep. 22 - Reclaiming Your Nervous System

    18/08/2026 | 59 mins.

Some people just have a highly sensitive nervous system, and it doesn’t help that our world is designed to constantly pull us into a sympathetic (fight-or-flight) state.
In today’s episode, I asked my amazing colleague, Dr. Kayla Clarke, to shed light on how we can align our bodies and minds with the demands of this fast-paced world, even when anxiety tries to throw us off track.
Kayla shares her personal journey of navigating anxiety, starting from a young age when she was diagnosed with OCD, panic disorder, and agoraphobia. She opens up about the process of deconditioning from the labels placed on her and discovering her own truth beyond those diagnoses.
As an empath and highly sensitive person, Kayla has learned to feel things deeply and embrace the energy that moves through her body. She challenges the notion that anxiety is something to be fixed or controlled, but rather an energy that can be acknowledged and allowed to flow through us. Which I love - obviously!!!
It’s time to embrace all of who we are, honour our sensitivity, and find that sweet spot of resilience in the face of anxiety.

This is another Ask Me Anything episode where I answer questions from you - my amazing community!
This week’s episode was inspired by a big question that covered so many great topics!
We chatted all things gut testing, what to do if you have a Candida overgrowth and no good bacteria in your gut, what to do if you have low stomach acid, what to do if you aren’t producing enough neurotransmitters, what it really means if you are low B12 and iron, sugar addictions, my thoughts on what testing is worth your money and what isn’t, and discuss if can menopause make anxiety worse.
