Episode 308 - Alien In Review: David Becomes the Creator in Alien: Covenant

    25/02/2026 | 1h 37 mins.
Alien In Review is back to go over the last (for now) movie in the Alien saga left to cover: Ridley Scott's 2017 sequel to Prometheus, Alien: Covenant. We're focusing in on the SFX catching up to the intent of the Xenomorph and how it makes for the best version of the monster yet, how this sequel better balances the horror of Alien with the philosophy of Prometheus, if some of the decisions the characters make in the story are irrational, and analyze Michael Fassbender's captivating performance as both Walter, the new and improved Android model, and David, the complex synthetic from the first movies who's desire to create life at any costs birthed the Xenomorphs as we know them.

Alien In Review will return! In the meantime, if you like Andy and Goo talking movies, check out their other podcast Virtual Theater, a podcast about video game movies and the stories that shape them!

Episode 307 - ROM Hack Reviews - Metroid: Oil Spill (PATREON UNLOCK)

    18/02/2026 | 1h 11 mins.
Andy and Doom had major technical issues this week and weren't able to get together for a redo, so as a make good, we are unlocking a special Patreon episode! ROM Hack Reviews returns with a Metroid Fusion ROM Hack from Spedimus called Metroid: Oil Spill! Placing Samus on a freighter leaking (you guessed it) OIL, players will have to navigate this open world while trying to stay alive against the games brutal difficulty. Is this game what fans of a more open Metroid Fusion experience have been longing for, or is the difficulty too steep to make this one worth recommending? Tune in to find out, and if you're feeling brave, challenge this hack for yourself!

All this, PLUS some Solo Spiteri time as Andy breaks down the return of Castlevania, the new God of War Metroidvania, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2., and more! Come listen!

Episode 306 – Definitively Ranking Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

    11/02/2026 | 2h 4 mins.
Definitive Ranking returns! This time around, we’re putting a bow on our dedicated coverage of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and we are going out with a bang. We cover the good, the bad, and the ugly; the breathtaking graphics, the horrific story, the rock solid gameplay, the divisive level design, the soundtrack and if it hits, and so much more!

Come play along, and as always, here’s the criteria for the Definitive Rankings:

World / Atmosphere (the vibe, the setting, the mood)

Art Style (design of Samus, the enemies, the graphics in general)

    Story (what works, what doesn’t)

Pacing / Progression (are there any parts that really bog the player down, or is it still fun getting lost?)

Gameplay / “Gimmick” (what new or different gameplay aspects we like)

Items / Abilities (how are the powerups and are they cool and practical)

Areas (how does each individual area look, feel, play, etc.)

Enemies / Bosses (are they fun, creative, etc.)

Expansions / Powerups (are the expansions hidden throughout the world fun, creative, and enjoyable to collect?)

    Music (are we humming along?)

Of course, all of these are subjective, and we’re putting our critics hats on, but we want to hear what you have to say on Bluesky!

Episode 305 – Ranking Every Area in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond!

    04/02/2026 | 1h 39 mins.
We are back and continuing the discussion around Metroid Prime 4 this week, and tackling one of the most contentious aspects of the game: the areas! We discuss the pros and cons of each locale, debate whether it's better for an area to try new things and fail or retread old ground and be fine, and end up definitively ranking them at the end. Sol Valley is definitely a hot topic, so you'll want to weigh in with your thoughts!

All this, PLUS some discussion about Wal-Mart's leaked Metroid Prime 2 NSO advertisement and when we could realistically see Echoes on Nintendo Classics. Come hang out!

Episode 304 – Metroid Prime Series Producer Kensuke Tanabe Stepping Down: Our Thoughts and Reactions!

    28/01/2026 | 1h 29 mins.
What a week for Metroid! We are going over a bombshell interview that Series Producer Kensuke Tanabe and a few other developers conducted with Japanese outlet Nintendo Dream, which Omega Metroid independently translated, where a whole slew of topics were discussed, with the most prominent piece of news being Tanabe confirming he will no longer produce games for Nintendo! Also discussed were Tanabe's successor, the level design philosophy of Metroid Prime 4, the inspiration behind the games ending, what Sylux was up to while on Viewros, and a whole lot more!

All this, PLUS our first glimpse at how Metroid Prime 4's sales are doing, and a message of hope for everyone affected by the brutal ICE murders of the last several weeks. Keep strong, friends <3
