  • Dr Philip Friedman
Dr Philip Friedman Peta and Dr Phil have the most extraordinary conversation here. They actually share about how Phil trained under the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy giants and greats, when CBT was just emerged and considered quackery and ridiculous. Phil shares that he has seen many therapies be rejected and then embraced - this was a refreshing conversation! It also gave me great hope in the 4th wave approaches. Part of what has driven Phil all these years, is searching for the tools that would help his clients - he found the 4th wave approaches well before we did! Phil has contributed so much in the area of developing psychological measures and therapy tools (links below) - he is truly a giant in the psychology field. Note: about 3 months after this interviewed was recorded, I (Peta) received news that Phil had passed. He was still seeing clients from his nursing home and positively impacting the lives of those he touched. I was quietly devastated but eternally grateful I was able to have this conversation and record Phil's journey through the decades. About Dr Phillip Friedman Philip H. Friedman, PhD, was a licensed psychologist and Director of the Foundation for Well-Being, in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. He is the author of “The Forgiveness Solution” and “Creating Well Being” in addition to the Friedman Assessment Scales on Well-Being, Beliefs, Quality of Life, Affect, Life Balance, Spiritual Awakening and the Mini-5 Factor Personality Scale. Dr. Friedman has published many articles in professional journals. He is also the developer of the ICBEST model of psychotherapy and strongly influenced by the spiritual disciplines of A Course in Miracles and Siddha Yoga. Dr. Friedman was an adjunct professor on the faculty of Sophia Univ. (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology).
