Ep: 47: From orphan to billionaire to aspiring Saint: Advice from Tom Monaghan

    12/05/2026 | 51 mins.
Today's guest is an American entrepreneur best known for founding Domino's Pizza, Tom Monaghan. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1937, he faced a difficult childhood after his father died when he was young, and he grew up in an Orphanage and foster care. In 1960, Monaghan and his brother bought a small pizza shop called DomiNick’s, which later became Domino’s Pizza. Monaghan expanded the company into one of the largest pizza delivery chains in the world. In 1998, he sold most of Domino’s and focused on philanthropy and Catholic education. He founded Ave Maria University, Legatus, and continues to support many religious causes.
In the episode, Tom shares more insights on his spiritual life throughout his career, his advice to ambitious Catholics, and how to balance money and Faith. You can learn more in his biography, "Tom Monaghan: A Life" by Joseph Pearce.
