The Difference Between Left and Right
New Discourses Bullets, Ep. 132 There are several differences between the Left and the Right on ideological, philosophical, and political grounds, but in plain practical terms, there's another obvious difference. The Left has radicalized in a way conservatives have not, and in proportions that conservatives have not. Why is that? The answer is that the Left has succumbed to the blinding temptation for power far more than the rest of us have, and it has driven them mad. The thing is, while radicalism and political violence are not (at present) "both sides" problems, temptation is a both-sides problem. The friend-enemy distinction as a criterion of politics tempts us too, and we must continue to choose to reject it, or we will lose this most important distinction between Left and Right. Join host James Lindsay for this episode of New Discourses Bullets wherein he discusses this important matter. Latest from New Discourses Press! The Nazi Experiment, Vol. 8: Carl Schmitt's Politics and the Nazi State
The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 182 What was the underlying structure of politics in the Third Reich, and what bearing did this view of politics have on the unfolding Nazi Experiment? In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay continues this sprawling series on Nazism, showing not just that it was a disaster but also why it was a disaster. In this episode, he presents the politics of Carl Schmitt, which informed and meshed with the Nazi totalitarian program at its deepest levels. Lindsay presents some of Schmitt's famous The Concept of the Political (1932) to set the stage and then presents a short essay by Schmitt from 1936 simply titled "Politics" (https://endnotes.org.uk/posts/carl-schmitt-politics-1936) that leaves little doubt that his politics were Nazi politics, and Nazi politics were his politics. The relationship to the politics of Maoism (https://newdiscourses.com/2023/02/woke-mao-and-the-american-cultural-revolution/), discussed elsewhere on the podcast, are also made clear. Join him for this eye-opening look into the Nazi political world, which is particularly alarming given the Woke Right effort to mainstream Schmitt in conservative politics today. The Three Pillars of Civilization
New Discourses Bullets, Ep. 131 What is civilization? What is it based on? In the biggest picture, there are three fundamental pillars to civilization: truth, justice, and love. (You'll notice how Biblical this is.) Truth allows us to make real, meaningful strides, and reality will punish us if we fail to keep to it. Justice is necessary to keep people functioning together and working for their society and the American Dream. But these must also be pursued with an orientation toward love, not enmity, if we are to foster a civilization instead of a tribalistic warzone. Join host James Lindsay for this important episode of New Discourses Bullets where he lays out these three crucial pillars of civilization. Latest from New Discourses Press! The Raging Birth of the Queer Militancy Movement
The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 181 Due to the circumstances of the vile murder of Charlie Kirk, not to mention so many other acts of violence in the last few years coming from Queer Activists, we need to understand the Queer Militancy movement. This movement was inaugurated, by most accounts, with a Pride Day (how times have changed!) pamphlet written by an angry (sociognostic) lesbian and distributed in June of 1990. It is, in fact, therefore, a cornerstone not just of the Queer Militancy movement but also of a militant thread that has always been a part of Queer Theory. In this jarring episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay read through this evil anonymous memo, titled "Queers Read This," (https://www.digitaltransgenderarchive.net/downloads/df65v8092) to give you a window into the dark mentality of violence in Queer Theory. You won't (but kind of will) want to miss this. Latest from New Discourses Press! We Must Win By the Book
New Discourses Bullets, Ep. 130 The hard part of building and protecting civilization is that we have to do it while maintaining the values and principles of civilization. That means while the enemies of civilization can run amok and break rules, norms, policies, laws, and expectations, we cannot. We have to do everything by the book. It's not just that we need to on a matter of principle, though. We also must as a matter of strategy. In a two-tiered system like the Woke Left has set up for itself, it gets to excuse itself for breaking the rules, but we will not have that luxury. In this episode of New Discourses Bullets, host James Lindsay breaks down the need for us to win by the book so we can preserve the book. Join him to learn how to fight for things worth fighting for.
