Kim shares motivational guidance about embracing self-love and confidence as you prepare for the new year, with particular emphasis on releasing old patterns and harnessing the transformative energy of the fire horse. It is a shift in how we live, how we lead, and how we listen. The snake is the wise one. It doesn’t rush, it doesn’t seek approval, it sheds what no longer fits. The year of the snake has invited us into deep inner work. Listening to our intuition, releasing outdated identities, and honouring the wisdom stored in the body. Many of us have been asked to let go this year, not because we have failed, but because we have evolved. The snake whispers, you don’t need to force clarity, you just need to trust it. Have you been listening to yourself? Favourite oils for releasing and to tap into the power of my own intuition include Frankincense, Myrrh, Sandalwood, and Vetiver. I release what no longer serves. I trust my inner knowing. I honour the wisdom within. The fire horse moves boldly forward. Where the snake asked you to reflect, the Fire Horse asks will you act? I think 2026 is about courage, action, visibility, and leadership through embodiment and living your truth out loud. Oils that activate horse energy include ginger, sweet orange, cedarwood and cinnamon. I move forward with courage, my energy is focused and grounded, I lead with heart not force. A blend that bridges the two would be frankincense, sandalwood, ginger and orange. I act from wisdom, not fear. I trust my timing, and I honour both stillness and momentum. The snake prepared you. The fire horse activates you. You are not here to dim your fire. We invite you to move wisely, courageously and consciously. This is about being consciously aware of calm power. SLP 540: From Existing to Living : Millie Thomas’ Journey with Anorexia
15/12/2025 | 1h 16 mins.
In this powerful conversation, Kim Morrison sits down with Millie Thomas, an eating disorder recovery coach, to share Millie’s raw and deeply personal story of surviving and fully recovering from a 15 year battle with anorexia nervosa. Millie takes us back to her teenage years in Auckland, where perfectionism, control, and pressure became fertile ground for the illness. Despite academic achievement and outward success, she describes the inner torment, the escalating compulsions, and the heartbreaking moment at 27 when her doctor asked her to decide whether she wanted to live or die. A turning point came through unconventional but deeply human support including work with Silky, an NLP practitioner, who helped Millie reframe the disorder as a set of changeable behaviours and begin the courageous climb back to life. Kim and Millie explore the reality that eating disorders are biopsychosocial illnesses that infiltrate every corner of a person’s world and profoundly affect families too. Millie speaks candidly about the impact on her parents and brother, the role of hope, and why recovery requires compassion and boundaries. Together they unpack how the eating disorder “voice” distorts language and meaning, why “just eat” is not only unhelpful but misunderstands the terror response, and how the recovery journey can feel chaotic while actually being a reclaiming of control. Millie also shares how her lived experience fuelled her mission: moving to the Sunshine Coast, contributing to broader support pathways (including involvement in residential recovery approaches), and building her private practice HealED, supporting clients worldwide. The episode closes with practical insight for carers and loved ones, and introduces Millie’s Hope & Healing Affirmation Cards. A purpose built resource designed specifically to support eating disorder recovery with grounded, relevant language. About Millie: Millie Thomas is a Carolyn Costin Institute Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach and a Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner. She battled Anorexia Nervosa for 15 years and very nearly lost her life to the illness. She was given up on by her treatment team and told to consider palliative care options. Her miraculous recovery was a catalyst for a complete career change. She left her hometown of Auckland, New Zealand and moved to her ‘happy place’ – the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. Where she became determined to use her lived experience to help bring eating disorders out of the shadows and into the light. She dedicates her time to eating disorder advocacy and eating disorder recovery coaching. She helps clients around the world to gain freedom from their eating disorders and reclaim their lives. Millie has her private practice HealED and for several years she also worked with Sunshine Coast based charity endED where she was involved in numerous projects including the establishment of Australia’s first residential eating disorders facility ‘Wandi Nerida’. She believes that no matter how long or how hard someone’s journey with an eating disorder has been full recovery is always possible; she is living proof of that. Her definition of Self Love is: Self-love, for me, is giving myself grace while holding hope. Never giving up on myself and choosing to live, not just exist. Her favourite quote is from: Ralph Waldo Emerson- To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. Real success in life is being the kind of person who makes others feel safe enough to be themselves — exactly as they are. Up until then I had no conception about my body other than what it allowed me to do. I had all personality characteristics that predisposed someone to anorexia. I still had all the thoughts, I had the same brain but different body. I felt I had to pretend that I was doing well. I was existing but not truly living. You might be weight restored but you actually need to be heart restored. Perfectionism can look like an asset, but at that point in my life it was a liability. It was toxic. The need to always do better, it is never enough. I looked happy in all the photos from Ibiza and France, but I was miserable. I was living with a demon in my head. My GP looked at me with tears in his eyes and said, ‘I need you to decide whether you want to live or you want to die because I need to know how to proceed with how we care for you. There was no peace, every single thing that I did I was punished or tortured for. The only way I could I see myself being at peace was being above the world looking down and up from a far. I had vicious voices in my head telling me these horrible things are going to happen if you don’t do this. It is like another force that I can’t even describe. Silky told me, you don’t have an eating disorder. It is something you do, a behaviour that has become a habit and behaviours can be changed. This was the moment when I thought she is right. It was a real sense of empowerment. I thought, if I die now, I will never know what it’s like to live. I felt I owed it to myself to give life a go. If I really hated it that much, on the other side I could always go back. It was the most excruciating, tortuous time of my life. It brought me to my knees, but it also opened the world back up to me. I put one foot in front of the other every single day and I did it. I gained the weight, and I moved on with my life. Recovery felt like standing on the edge of a cliff . Terrifying, unknown, but also strangely liberating. I talk about the 3 C’s which is conscious, consistent and commitment. My eating disorder was consciously, consistently committed to ruining my life hence I had to be consciously, consistently committed to reclaiming my life back. I often thought to myself as I was kicking and screaming on the floor in the middle of recovery “Why me?” What is the reason for this. This was the reason. I was here to use my story and turn my pain into my purpose and create change. Those 15 years were a living hell but without them, I wouldn’t be here now, helping people find freedom, and for that I am forever grateful. People can get well. It is not something you have to battle for the rest of your life with the right support. I knew lived experience was gold. It is the lived experience that helps me to help my clients in a compassionate way. Everything I do now comes from having been there. You can’t bullshit a bullshitter when you have lived it. There was a period where my brother disowned me and said, ‘If you don’t get rid of this illness, I’m out”. Even then, all I cared about was being skinny. I didn’t care if I lost my brother. I was so far down the rabbit hole that it was like water off a duck’s back and that still frightens me to this day. When I think about the possibility that I may never have been an Auntie that breaks my heart. Unless you have lived it as a family, you cannot even begin to imagine how wild that ride is. Eating disorders prey on perfectionism. That black and white thinking of ‘you must do this’ or something terrible will happen. The voice told me every single day, if you do XYZ, you will be happy for the rest of your life. I fell for that spell. Hook, line and sinker. That if I had the perfect body, everything else would fall into place. You think you are in control, but really the eating disorder is in the driver’s seat. Recovery feels like losing control completely but it is actually you taking the control back. As morbid as it sounds, the eating disorder’s goal is to kill you. That is its motive. One of the most important things is to always hold hope. Approach it with love, compassion and non judgement but also have boundaries and encourage them to reach for a different life. Every single time you ask them to be included, they realise they still matter in the world. Connection is key. There was not one aspect of my life that was not affected by my eating disorder. If you can help someone get out of their head and into their heart, piece by piece, bit by bit, that is what helps them keep going. SLP 539: Self Love Quicky - The Power of Being the Observer
10/12/2025 | 12 mins.
In this weeks Quicky of the Self-Love Podcast, Kim explores the importance of developing observation skills as a tool for personal growth, discussing how stepping back from emotional triggers can lead to better understanding and management of one’s emotions. She delves into scientific concepts like pattern interrupts and neuroplasticity, sharing practical techniques such as the “observer breath” and sensory rituals to help manage emotional responses and create new neural pathways. Kim shares insights on becoming an observer of one’s thoughts and emotions, emphasising the value of self reflection and emotional detachment for personal growth and self-improvement. All the essential oils mentioned in this show can be found at www.twenty8.com. Don’t forget to use your Self Love Podcast special code below. Links to follow: Website: https://twenty8.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/twenty.8.essential/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/twenty8essentials Quotes: One of the most empowering skills any one of us can develop is learning to be the observer. What if we practised zooming out and becoming the observer? Stepping back from the emotional charge and watching the moment with curiosity rather than judgement. It is like rising above the scene, seeing yourself and the other person from a higher vantage point. Triggers activate neural pathways that have often been strengthened for years. When we pause, we get an opportunity to break that automatic loop. This is neuroplasticity in action. Your brain rewiring itself through awareness. Even a three second pause can shift your physiology from fight or flight into rest and digest. When you pause, when you become the observer, when you zoom out, observation opens the door to transformation. I call it the zoom out breathe. Take one, slow deep inhalation and take a step back or upwards, as if you are watching the scene. Name what’s happening: Say to yourself ‘I’m noticing this activation or trigger.’” This shifts you from being in the emotion to actually observing it. Ask yourself: What does the best version of me choose next? Is this really true? Another thing I like to say in my head is, ‘Wow, that’s interesting.’ Anchor through sensory rituals. Essential oils like lavender, neroli, frankincense or your favourite Twenty8 blend can create a physical anchor. Celebrate the pause. You are literally reshaping and rewiring your brain. These micro victories of not reacting can compound into deep embodied change. Becoming the observer isn’t about detaching. It is about holding yourself with compassion. When you observe your thoughts and emotions without becoming them, you truly gain true freedom. Self love isn’t something you just feel. It is something you practise in these exact moments you are tempted to react. SLP 538: A Mother’s Journey to Healing with Claire Holmes
08/12/2025 | 1h 5 mins.
n this heartfelt episode, Kim speaks with Claire Holmes who shares her remarkable journey from a nurturing childhood in country Victoria to becoming a health educator and functional nutritionist. Her story takes a profound turn when her second child is born prematurely and begins facing complex health challenges, sending the family on a long and emotionally exhausting search for answers. Claire opens up about the devastating experience of being misunderstood and even accused of child abuse, the financial strain that followed, and the heartbreak of watching her child suffer, before finally discovering that toxic mould in their home was at the root of her daughter’s illness. Through adversity, Claire found strength in intuition, mindset, and the power of reframing her inner world. She speaks candidly about shifting from a victim based mindset into one of empowerment through neuro-wisdom practices and subconscious reprogramming. Claire explains how deeply held beliefs, formed in childhood, can shape our health and lived experiences, and how humour, patience, and persistence play an essential role in creating lasting change. The conversation explores the courage it takes to be vulnerable, confront buried emotions and break old patterns. Claire shares how this inner work transformed not only her health, but her family’s life, leading her to homeschool her children for several years and teach them to trust their bodies rather than suppress symptoms with quick fixes. She reflects on her spiritual approach to healing, acceptance, and compassion, and how she now supports others as a functional nutritionist by educating clients and empowering them to trust their intuition. Claire and Kim reflect on the ongoing challenge of balancing purpose driven work and motherhood, the power of zooming out to gain perspective, and the importance of leading with love, compassion, and self trust through life’s most challenging seasons. About Claire Claire Holmes is a New Biology Practitioner and Functional Nutritionist. She has undergone further study specifically in Neurowisdom, Isotropics, The Microbiome, Terrain Therapy, Yoga and Breathwork, Bioelectric Therapy and the Root Cause Protocol. Claire grew up on a farm, living in the outdoors, eating nourishing food and growing up in a loving family with three older brothers. Claire loves surfing, camping, yoga, homeschooling her two children and the deep connected relationships in her life. Life was very smooth and easy for her until she became a mother and then life took a turn. Claire believes that thanks to the trauma, hardships and struggles; she has become the person she is, with the wisdom she now has to share with the world. Without the bathroom floor moments, she believes she would not have grown spiritually and emotionally in the way that she has. Claire wouldn’t have discovered her life purpose. She would not have been forced to find real tools for healing and have connected with the incredible healing mentors she stumbled up around the world. It’s these experiences that have shaped her life and the path she is on now. Claire now offers health consultations and holistic wellness support. She only treats YOU and your unique STORY. She is not concerned with a diagnosis, but more on how you feel and the journey that has led you to the symptoms you have. Two people can have identical symptoms; but the cause and healing path for these two people will possibly be completely different. Everyone’s health journey is completely unique. I will deeply listen! What she hopes individuals will come to understand after working with her is that your body isn’t faulty and just randomly breaks down every so often. She helps you understand and embody a paradigm shift and understand that your body is a self-healing ecosystem that is always working to recreate balance, health and vitality. Symptoms are just the body’s way of communicating an important and timely message. They are either a protective response or part of the body’s process of trying to heal. Your body is incredible; if it’s given what it truly needs it will heal and regain optimal health. Everything your body is doing is for you, not against you. Her definition of Self Love is: Self-love is honouring who you are, being your true self in every moment and not trying to be anybody else. When you get to know yourself, life just works for you. Her favourite quote is: More smiling, less worry, more compassion, less judgement, more blessed, less stressed, more love, and less hate Links to follow: Website: www.nourishingme.com.au Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nourishingme.au/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/nourishingme/ Quotes: I grew up in country Victoria in a very loving, blessed home. I had a mother who was very intuitive. She just knew how to give us an upbringing that really nurtured our soul and our health. For me, travelling was a real journey of just discovering who I was. I was happy and enjoying life, really living life to the fullest. Something flicked in me, and I knew that wasn’t our journey. I sat on this hospital bed for 10 weeks and I meditated and visualised to keep this beautiful girl alive. I got to the point where I doubted myself as a mother. I said maybe I shouldn’t be her mum. My husband stepped in, and he was incredible and he just made me come back into my truth and trust him, he gave me the confidence to move forward and trust in what I was doing and keep searching for the answers. When we make a decision in life things just come our way and then decided that that with my whole heart that I was going to keep on fighting. Within two weeks of moving house, we had a new daughter. My husband is probably one of the most positive men I know. He can see the bright side. He helped me when I sort of lost the light to see the light again. He honours the ground I walk on, and I honour the ground he walks on, and he made me rediscover my gifts again and the beautiful mother intuition that I had. I was sitting in this place of victim consciousness. That life is happening to me and I am powerless. Our mind is like a movie projector onto our world. Whatever’s playing in our subconscious, we just project on the world to create our experience over and over again. This work is the hardest work anyone will do. We have to expose the illusion and recreate a new story. To reprogram a mind takes a lot of time, commitment and a big sense of humour. You have to dive in and know that being vulnerable is actually a strength. It is not that you are broken. It is just your program that is controlling how you show up in the world. Everyone is on their own unique journey and it is perfect for them. Not everyone is ready to go deep. We have to surrender. We don’t actually have to be friends with everyone. We can move in different directions in our life and people flow in and out. The right people come into our lives at the right time. Whenever there is a symptom, the body is always talking to us. I really want to shape their belief system and give them the best start to life. I deeply listen to their bodies. In homeschooling I could show them the fundamentals of health that I hope they come back to that when they have challenges in life. I have two very wise kids that understand a lot about health and they are my biggest teachers. I help empower people through understanding why that symptom has arisen and getting them to discover why that illness has happened. If we block a healing process, the body will have to do it again. Often worse. I see it as educating people to empower them. Every event that happens, we get to choose how we react in every moment. Be conscious on how you engage in the world, these events will keep happening, If you have the same reaction, you will create the same outcome. When you get to know yourself, life just works for you. SLP 537: Self Love Quicky - The Power of Trust
03/12/2025 | 9 mins.
In this heartfelt Quicky, Kim explores one of the most powerful yet often overlooked inner abilities we all possess, the power of trust. Through gentle reflection and guided insight, you will be invited to reconnect with the quiet wisdom that lives beneath the noise, your intuition, your body’s signals, your heart’s truth and the natural rhythms of life itself. Together, we unravel the many layers of trust. Trusting your heart’s fierce knowing, your mind’s clarity, your body’s compass and your gut’s instinctive guidance. You will be reminded that feelings are feedback, intuition is ancient wisdom, and nature is one of our greatest teachers. As you listen, you will discover how trust leads us from fear and control into flow, alignment, courage and deep self connection. If you have been seeking clarity, reassurance, or a gentle nudge back to yourself, this episode is your sign. You will learn how to honour your inner knowing, recognise the signals your body sends, reconnect with the earth beneath your feet, and step into a life that feels guided, grounded, and beautifully aligned. Trust your timing. Trust your journey. Trust yourself. All the essential oils mentioned in this show can be found at www.twenty8.com. Don’t forget to use your Self Love Podcast special code below. Links to follow: Website: https://twenty8.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/twenty.8.essential/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/twenty8essentials Quotes: Maybe it’s a feeling in your belly, a flutter in your heart, maybe it is the sudden stillness that you just go, hell yes, I’m in. This is really our intuition speaking, it is our inner wisdom. It doesn’t always speak in words. The truth before the world’s noise or interruptions or distractions get in. The heart is not foolish, but it’s fierce and wise, and if we look at it, it beats to the rhythm of love, not logic. When we trust our heart we open ourselves to connectedness, compassion and courage. We can trust the body. The body never lies. Learning to read our body signals, that is a radical act of self respect. When the gut says no, it is probably important that we listen. When it says yes, I think it’s equally important that we lean in. Trusting our feelings doesn’t mean reacting. Maybe it means more about honouring the messages that our feelings carry. Nature doesn’t rush. The tree never questions whether it will bloom again. It trusts the seasons. When we don’t trust, when we stop trusting ourselves, we outsource our own power. You were born with that wisdom. It has been there all along. We just need to slow down and get quiet enough to hear it again. Trust is an energy that builds with every choice aligned to your truth. Your body is a phenomenal compass, your heart is your guide, and your mind is the translator. Trust yourself. Trust your timing. Trust your journey, and trust that the more you do, the more your life will flow in ways that you once only dreamed possible. When you trust yourself, you become unstoppable.
