SLP 561: Self Love Quicky - The Power of Responding Rather Than Reacting

    11/03/2026 | 11 mins.
In this week’s Quicky Kim discusses the importance of emotional regulation and its connection to self love. She explains that emotional regulation involves responding to emotions in a conscious way rather than reacting impulsively. Kim provides five tools to help with self regulation and emphasises that regulation is not about suppressing emotions but about feeling them deeply without becoming destructive. She stresses that self love involves being able to sit with one’s own emotional storm without abandoning oneself. This episode highlights the importance of emotional regulation for personal growth and the ability to create positive change in the world.

SLP 560: Writing Her Way: Nicole Fuge on Storytelling, Self Love and Building Muse Paper

    09/03/2026 | 1h 1 mins.
In this episode, Kim sits down with journalist and founder of Muse Paper, Nicole Fuge, to explore her journey from traditional media into building a purpose led digital platform dedicated to women’s stories. Nicole shares how her career evolved from community newspapers to feature writing, and how motherhood, redundancy, and a desire for more meaningful work led her to launch Muse Paper in 2024. She reflects honestly on balancing journalism with raising children, navigating postpartum challenges, and redefining her identity beyond career and motherhood.

This conversation explores self belief, the art of capturing powerful personal stories, and the importance of intentional reading in a world of doom scrolling. This is an inspiring and practical conversation about reinvention, authenticity, and building something meaningful that truly supports women at every stage of life.

    About Nicole
Nicole Fuge is an Australian journalist with 19 years’ experience across print and digital media. She began her career in newspapers before moving into magazines, later spending seven years in the digital space.

At the beginning of 2025, she launched Muse Paper, a modern digital publication for women seeking thoughtful stories, honest conversations, and a sense of connection.

Having experienced shifts in her health, hormones and identity, Nicole realised how much women pour into others – family, work, life – often leaving little space for themselves. Muse Paper was born from that: a place to explore the many evolving seasons of womanhood, from motherhood to menopause and everything in between.

A mum of two, Nicole has intentionally created a flexible life and career, working around nap times and often writing deep into the night when the house is quiet and still. Her work is grounded in self-trust, timing, and the power of backing yourself.

Her definition of Self Love is: Self-love is taking care of yourself in a way that only you know how.

Her favourite quote is from: Anything you lose by speaking your truth isn’t a loss, it’s alignment.

    Quotes:
I have always been curious and a little bit nosey and I think that is what drew me to media in the first place.
I remember the guidance counsellor said to me, you will never be a journalist, because you don’t have the grades, and I have carried that with me to this day.
It wasn’t until I went to uni and studied journalism that I actually thrived.
I have always looked at people and been curious of their stories and I know that everyone does have a story.
Most people are just ordinary people going about their lives.
Everyone has a story to share and I am now realising that includes me too.
I loved it and that was where I feel like my genius came out.
I didn’t want to let go of who I was before becoming a mum.
    I was someone totally new, I wasn’t who I was before and I wasn’t just a mum.
I was taking care of everyone else and I needed to take care of myself as a woman, not just a mother.
I needed to count myself as a person.
If I am tired and cranky, the kids are quite often cranky too, because they pick up on that energy.
I think it is okay to want more because that is just part of being human.
When we do get to where we want to be, it is important to actually sit with that and enjoy it.
We are so busy wanting the next thing that we don’t really spend much time just sitting with where we are.
Motherhood is so hard to prepare for, but it is also so hard to explain.
It is that unspoken understanding between mothers.
It is not until you talk to another mum that they actually get it.
Those little details are what make it truly personal.
Not getting that job felt like a rejection, but in hindsight, it was a redirection.
Muse paper is written for women like me.
We needed a platform that honours all of the seasons of motherhood.
Trust the nudge even when it doesn’t make sense yet.

SLP 559: Self Love Quicky - Hormone Harmony

    04/03/2026 | 9 mins.
In this weeks Quicky, Kim explores the powerful relationship between hormones and the nervous system, reminding us that our hormones are not “misbehaving” but responding intelligently to stress, sleep, blood sugar, and overall life load. She unpacks how chronic stress shifts the body into survival mode, impacting cortisol, progesterone, estrogen, and even our sleep cycles, and explains why phases like perimenopause and menopause can heighten sensitivity to stress without meaning anything is “wrong.”

Drawing on her expertise in aromatherapy, Kim highlights the direct link between the olfactory system and the limbic brain, sharing how therapeutic grade essential oils can help activate the parasympathetic nervous system and guide the body back into rest, repair, and regulation. She discusses oils such as lavender, clary sage, neroli, and citrus as supportive tools for calming the stress response and creating hormone harmony through gentle, consistent practices.

This episode is a reminder that the body is wise and responsive. Through scent, breath, ritual, and intention we can create a sense of safety that supports true hormonal balance and overall wellbeing.

    Quotes:
Hormones don’t just randomly misbehave. They just respond.
One of the most important systems influencing your hormones is your nervous system.
When we label something as a hormone imbalance, it is actually a dysregulated nervous system.
This isn’t a weakness. It is just basic physiology.
The olfactory system, your sense of smell, is directly connected to the limbic part of the brain.
When we do activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Our heart rate slows, cortisol begins to reduce and muscle tension decreases.
The power of smell, the intentionality of rituals, and the ability of awareness is what helps us to balance our hormones and feel more harmony in the home.
Hormone harmony isn’t about forcing balance. It is about creating the internal conditions where balance becomes more possible.
It is about consistency over intensity. It is about rituals over reactions.
Your body is not broken. It is responsive. And when you support the nervous system, your hormones will follow.

SLP 558: The One Who Knows: Finding Yourself with Krista Bleich

    02/03/2026 | 1h
In this episode of the Self Love Podcast, Kim interviews Krista Bleich about her memoir, The One Who Knows, and the midlife journey that inspired it. Krista shares her path from growing up in Wisconsin to running a bakery, navigating divorce and financial hardship and ultimately rebuilding her life and career with renewed purpose. She opens up about her long held desire to write a book, the vulnerability required to tell her story, how the writing process helped her find clarity, self trust, and her authentic voice. Together, they explore themes of self-love, reinvention, nervous system regulation, and the courage to start over later in life

    About Krista
I am a lifelong seeker of self-discovery, which started with an underlying belief that there was more to life than I had been living. Countless self-development books, seminars, retreats – you name it, I did it. All in self-seeking.

My memoir is a story – the story of my desperate search for something outside myself to fill me up and make me feel whole and alive. Starting in my early childhood to my teens and early 20’s, I experienced life in ways that shaped me. I did the best that I could.

One thing I will say here is that there are so many books out there that are centred around abuse, cults, and addiction, etc. Where my story doesn’t necessarily grab someone in and pull them into the depths of “oh my gosh, what a terrible lived experience that was.”

My memoir, I feel, has more relatability in some regards. As in, I just did some stupid or different things that seemed at the time the best decision I could have made given the circumstances.

And then at the same time, the Universe or God or whatever you want to name it, played its role as well. I was open enough to see what was put in front of me and take the leap.

So the book – my life story up to my mid 50’s is the journey. The ‘normal life journey’ of a woman who learned to trust in herself.

In my late 20’s, I entered an inpatient centre for 3 weeks, dealing with depression. I met the man within those walls, whom I married later that year. I thought I was saved and the fairy tale had happened, only to have a tremendous amount of disillusionment with what I had gotten myself into.

From there, I started, ran, and managed a successful business, had 4 children, and what followed was divorce and bankruptcy.

What also transpired was a rediscovery of who I am and the knowing that I have had for myself all along. I just needed to trust that.

Her definition of Self Love is: Respecting myself and not judging what brings me happiness and joy. Doing what brings me joy, even if it is simple.

Her favourite quote is from: Mariane Williamson
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’

Evolve and launch mentioned in the podcast https://evolveandrelaunch.com.au/

    Quotes:
I always remember having an adventurous spirit as a kid.
I always wanted to explore more, be more and experience more.
I had this underlying sense there was more to life than what was happening on the surface.
It was a sense of something pulling me that wanted to be expressed or experienced.
I knew enough to just take the next logical step.
I knew back then I wanted to write something. The story wasn’t finished yet. There was more living that I had to do.
Everybody does have stories, but I wanted it to have some kind of message.
I tried one thing, and that didn’t work, and then I tried another thing. It taught me something more about myself.
I was really creating more and more of a monster that I had to keep feeding. I didn’t realise I was the problem.
I was trying to fill a hole that really couldn’t be filled.
I needed that space in order to really see who I was.
The other things will come when it is ready, but you can’t rush that.
Give yourself the time to find you again
I really don’t think that you really grow up until you have maturity and experiences.
Life teaches you something about who you are.
I think we really start growing up when we are over 50.
I found a career that actually fulfilled me in a completely different way. It wasn’t just a job anymore. It was a career.
My experience and my life experience had value.
I finally felt like my life was full.
    I am still evolving.
It feels like the beginning of my life now.
I am open to what else might come.
Anybody who has been searching for themselves will see a part of themselves in my story.

SLP 557: Self Love Quicky - A Holistic Approach to Health

    25/02/2026 | 9 mins.
In this week’s Quicky of the Self Love Podcast, Kim explores the true meaning of holistic health and why wellness is never a one size fits all journey. She shares how many people grow up without experiencing vibrant health and often search for quick fixes rather than addressing the deeper connection between body, mind, emotions, lifestyle, and relationships.

Kim encourages you to stop outsourcing your health to a single practitioner or solution and instead develop a partnership with your own body. By tuning into intuition, listening to physical signals, and aligning with practitioners and modalities that resonate personally, individuals can make more empowered and sustainable health choices.

She also highlights the value of simple, supportive self-care practices such as rest, natural therapies, and intentional lifestyle adjustments, reminding us that true well-being comes from approaches that work in harmony with who we are. This episode is a powerful invitation to take personal responsibility, explore integrative options, and trust yourself in creating long-term vitality and balance.

    Quotes:
True health is never a one size fits all.
A holistic approach means that we stop outsourcing, giving our power to one single solution, a practitioner, a modality, a pill, or a protocol.
What if we took a moment to zoom out and look at the whole picture?
There are a lot of people out there that have never experienced what it feels like to truly feel fantastic.
Your body is constantly talking to you. Listen to the whispers.
It is about choosing people and practises that resonate with you.
Just know that your body is wise.
    Your intuition is beyond intelligence.
    Self love means listening.
The magic happens when things work with you, not against you.
Ask yourself, what do I really need? What is my body asking of me?
Holistic health isn’t about perfection, but partnership.
You have the choice. You have the power.
You can have a thousand problems until you have a health problem, and then you only have one problem.
    Health is your greatest asset.
