Pears are also delicious in autumn, but you have to be careful if you give them as a gift, because the word for pear, lí, sounds the same as lí meaning “to separate.” That’s why people usually avoid giving pears to couples. So you see, autumn fruits in China are not only tasty, they’re also connected to daily habits and cultural traditions.
